Excellent food and views

As with many reviewers, we were staying at the Lato and decided to try out the local restaurant. After a week of solid Greek cuisine, I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of food we had. We booked dinner here in part because we were staying at the Lato Hotel (in which the restaurant is located) but it would have been worth a trip across town. Superb sunset views over the harbor, and the cuisine was more than OK. We had a lot of good food in Crete, but this was perhaps the most refined and... More

Had dinner. Pasta with zucchini and tomatoes amd basil they claimed. It was overcooked pasta with something that tasted like cheap canned pasta sauce, too much acid, and traces of zucchini. I really could not find the basil in there at all, very disappointed. My man ate the risoni with seafood and with every bite of mussel came a crunchy... More

I've only visited for lunch and I have to say that the set lunch menu offers outstanding value for money. We will definitely be returning. Lovely, fresh ingredients, cooked wonderfully from local products. also it is mix of traditional dishes of the island of Crete on modern manners. The service was very good. Beautiful view of the sea. The food... More

Stunning view, although we didn't book we managed to get a table with "half-port" view. The food was great, although a bit overpriced and the stuff were very friendly and accomodating.

What a creative chef! We had teh following: - Caramelized “Manouri” (Greek soft white cheese) on the grill, served with wild Cretan mushrooms & roasted hazelnuts. OUR FAVORITE - Green salad with smoked “Ladotiri”, on the grill, (Greek cheese matured in olive oil), sundried tomatoes, roasted hazelnuts with a hint of carob & balsamic vinegar. - Roasted pork belly, with... I went for dinner with my husband and although we did not manage to book a table with a port view (we reserved on the very same day), we had a very nice experience. Set in a nice area with sofas and lounge and still had a nice view of the city. The service was above average and the food... More

The menu was extensive with a range of non Greek meals. That is not to suggest there is any problem with Greek food, on the contrary it is fabulous, but after several weeks of similar offerings while travelling, it was pleasing to have wider choices. The service was polished and attentive, the views fabulous and there is a good selection... More
