Not fancy, not a view but a true family Greek taverna. The maître at the megadose hotel turned us on to this and was he right. Papa fishes, momma cooks and son runs the restaurant with the help of a very serious 9 year old( his son?). Not a foreigner in the house. Great fish!

Here we found the best grilled octopus. Not on the sea shore but the best fish and a very friendly owner. An authentic Greek restaurant own by a family of fisherman.

I know all the restaurants along the front sell fish, but they do tend to charge a premium price. Here you can order 'fresh fish', for E11.5, which was in fact very fresh and very good, presumably whatever has been caught that day, you are welcome to go into the kitchen to look at it. Moussaka also very good. With... More

My father and I visited here last week, and later into the evening noticed just how many Greek families came to eat here also, which we took as a good sign! Food was more than ample, and I had the Mousakka twice (visiting 3 times). The mixed grill was also excellent. At the end of the night our host also... More

Great food! All home made by the grand mother. The other 3 generations take care of the customers. They serve so much food that we couldn't finish. We recommend the moussaka, the fried aubergines and the Elounda Fish plate to share!

We visited Nikos' on St Constantine's day following the procession through the town and were the only non-Greeks in this very crowded and noisy taverna. The service was slow, as expected because of the crowds, and the food of average quality. The house red wine was not as good as that served in several other tavernas, but still drinkable. Cost... We visited this little restaurant many years ago and did not stay as we were advised that the stated opening hours had changed and no food would be available for another hour or so. Most disappointing! Nevertheless we are pleased to state that having visited this quaint restaurant twice in a week that a revisit was well worth the effort.... More

Very friendly service, with delicious, fresh and copious helpings. Much better value than the more feted restaurants on the sea front.
