OK. Elounda IS a tourist location. That doesn't mean that there aren't great places to come and eat. This autumn, we came here and had the best fish meal ever. I mean, seriously. My criterion for great Cretan food -and I live here, so I'm fussy - is one question. Do the local people eat here? And at Nikos' psarotaverna?... More

Back after 3 years, Nikos still serves fresh and well cooked - very good fish. Eat where the locals eat.! Good value too. Ask what the catch today has been as they catch their own.

This was the best food we'd eaten. Nothing pretentious or expensive. Family run restaurant and family friendly atmosphere in the center of Elounda village.

We ate here a couple of times during our trip as recommended by Sharon in the supermarket. We weren't disappointed! The food is fresh and delicious as well as reasonable. The only tip would be don't order a platter between two unless you're really hungry!

Local produce, well cooked and at reasonable prices. The Whitbait starter was a meal in itself and the Black Bream was really lovely.

Our fish of the day was caught by Giorgo the son and cooked and de-boned by the Mama. We had a lovely lunch of sea bream, and my partner ended up drinking Raki and Ouzo with Giorgo and other Greek guests. It is a small restaurant that you might pass by, but all the locals go there. So you know... More

Nice, cosy friendly eatery. Good all round and great food, particularly the fish. Good local wine. Oh, and the raki too! Nice experience all round.

Not fancy, not a view but a true family Greek taverna. The maître at the megadose hotel turned us on to this and was he right. Papa fishes, momma cooks and son runs the restaurant with the help of a very serious 9 year old( his son?). Not a foreigner in the house. Great fish!
