Simple decor but excellent food and great prices.

We decided to come here because it was featured on the Lonely planet guide. It's not on the main street so it is not recommended if you love people watching. We found this place when walking from the harbor to the town in Chania. So different from the ones in the harbor, so we decided to have lunch here. It felt more like eating in somebody's terrace rather than a restaurant. It serves greek home cooking, simple and tasty, reasonable price and portion.

Forget the menu, choose from the kitchen and you won't be disappointed! This restaurant is a little haven set back from the tourist area on the harbour. The cost was very reasonable too. Its a real Cretan place not done up for the tourist so if you like glamour and glitz it won't be for you but if you like... More

Doloma offers simple and authentic Cretan cooking; while you get a real feel of everyday life... a place I would always take friends or family for a nice meal!

I love this restaurant, it is family run and everything is home cooked and fresh. I love that I can go in the kitchen and have a look at all the dishes before I decide what I'd like to eat. It always brings back memories of how it used to be in Greece. We eat here quite often and I... More

Lonely Planet recommends this restaurant but we found it dreary. Granted we were early, having missed lunch, but still the tired decor, dirty sign, workmen doing construction next door, and persistent flies were not conducive to a pleasant meal. Men came in who would help out later I guess but while we were there sat rolling cigarettes. The food was... More

Doloma is the taverna where I take my friends and where I prefer to eat when I am alone. I always feel welcome and relaxed. The food is good. This time in Chania I tried Saganaki in the tavernas I ate and Dolomas was the very best, They have the Cretan Romeiko-Wine, that gives my a local feeling. Very nice... More

It was really busy when we went in August, and we even booked a table! As a result we waited quite a while between courses and the food was only average (although with the number of covers they got thru that was no bad thing)

The proprietress was sadly widowed earlier this year but after a gap she has reopened and I urge all who like genuine taverna cooking to visit for a very competitively if not low -priced meal of excellent quality. Moussaka, pasticcio, boureki, all the staples of good in the oven cooking as well as superb Kalamaria. It really is very very... More

Don't succumb to the tourist trap places on the harbour front. Go a few streets back into town and eat at Doloma. You get to choose from prepared casserole type dishes or eat off the menu. We all had a stuffed tomato and added items like the stuffed vine leaves and the best cheese phyllo rolls I have ever had... More
