The taverna where I take my friends

Doloma is the taverna where I take my friends and where I prefer to eat when I am alone. I always feel welcome and relaxed. The food is good. This time in Chania I tried Saganaki in the tavernas I ate and Dolomas was the very best, They have the Cretan Romeiko-Wine, that gives my a local feeling... read more

It was really busy when we went in August, and we even booked a table! As a result we waited quite a while between courses and the food was only average (although with the number of covers they got thru that was no bad thing)

The proprietress was sadly widowed earlier this year but after a gap she has reopened and I urge all who like genuine taverna cooking to visit for a very competitively if not low -priced meal of excellent quality. Moussaka, pasticcio, boureki, all the staples of good in the oven cooking as well as superb Kalamaria. It really is very very... More

Don't succumb to the tourist trap places on the harbour front. Go a few streets back into town and eat at Doloma. You get to choose from prepared casserole type dishes or eat off the menu. We all had a stuffed tomato and added items like the stuffed vine leaves and the best cheese phyllo rolls I have ever had... More

To get away from the tourist hoards around the harbour and main pedestrian streets, try this little place for real Greek home food. It is tucked away one street over from the harbour on Kalergon, right behind the Arsenals. Good food, greT value.

We stopped here for lunch after shopping in the market not far away, l really appreciated the unpretentious feel, the service was friendly, a quick look to see what dishes were available from the kitchen, a nice shady terrace set back from the road to relax and enjoy the great local fare. Afterwards we strolled past the busy tourist orientated... More

The red house wine was the worse wine I have ever tasted (I asked them if it was wine or something else...). We took the souvlaki and an hamburger, both acceptable, but not very good. Overall the service was OK, even if we had to wait a lot. In the same street the are a lot of better restaurants, at... More

I've been to this delightful little restaurant many times and the food has always been top notch. Genuine Greek cuisine accompanied by a shy smile! Don't miss it!

Lonely Planet says this place is "unpretentious" and they are spot on! The restaurant is situated off the road with tables on a pleasant, leafy terrace. They serve classic Greek fare, well-cooked and delicious. You can go in and see the "dishes of the day" in their display cabinet and choose from there or from the general menu. I had... More

Cheap good food. Tastes like good Greek home cooking. Nice place to be. Not only a tourist place. Good place in the middle of the old town.
