The red house wine was the worse wine I have ever tasted (I asked them if it was wine or something else...). We took the souvlaki and an hamburger, both acceptable, but not very good. Overall the service was OK, even if we had to wait a lot. In the same street the are a lot of better restaurants, at... More

I've been to this delightful little restaurant many times and the food has always been top notch. Genuine Greek cuisine accompanied by a shy smile! Don't miss it!

Lonely Planet says this place is "unpretentious" and they are spot on! The restaurant is situated off the road with tables on a pleasant, leafy terrace. They serve classic Greek fare, well-cooked and delicious. You can go in and see the "dishes of the day" in their display cabinet and choose from there or from the general menu. I had... More

Cheap good food. Tastes like good Greek home cooking. Nice place to be. Not only a tourist place. Good place in the middle of the old town.

Back in March I went to Chania for the 1st time and came across To Xani taverna. It was quite chilly in the evenings so I sat inside which was fine because it was very authentic and had a nice atmosphere. The food was very good and Margy and Dimitri and the staff were all very friendly so when I went... More

We ate here at lunch time today. A mix of English and Greek families occupied the tables on the terrace. We were invited inside to see the meals on offer plus various other items from the grill. We had a selection of mains meat, fish, pasta plus salad. We paid 84 € for 9 of us including drinks and free... More

Every time I visit Chania, Crete I eat in Doloma Restaurant. In my opinion it is the best restaurant where you can eat authentic Greek and Cretan food. Everything there is home made and is made from fresh domestic ingredients whether it is a meal dish or a fish one, or vegetables. It is simple, but very homey atmosphere in... More

Keep it simple. I am a real food snob. I don't like pretension, I like integrity, quality, simplicity, decency. I found all of these, plus dinner for 5 adults and three kids for a more than worthwhile 85 euros at Doloma. We are only in Crete for a week, but already thinking of returning.

We first came to Doloma on our honeymoon in 2001, and since then we have returned several times. The ambience is simple, set in a back yard, but the food (the best possible home cooking) and kind, gentle service is wonderful. Don't eat too much - you will receive complimentary dessert, fruit, raki and even ice cream for the kids.... More

So found this restaurant listed in a travel guide for Crete. We read that it is further away from the sea front & that it would be cheaper & the food is excellent. So we pitched up to it, not too far fromt he sea front of Chania. We were able to get a table outside underneath a tree which... More
