Knew nothing about this restaurant before we decided to eat there.Found it by chance and chose to eat there because they had Grecian snails on the menu ; no other reason. At the end of the meal, we were bowled over by the quality of food and the service offered by the friendly staff. The food was fresh and cooked... More

A beautiful tavern located in a small street in the old town of Chania with very friendly staff and great Cretan homemade delicacies. They welcome you with free raki and they keep bringing it when you finish it but you never pay for it. The appetizers are very tasty, the salads are huge and the meat plates really satisfying! The... Finding this restaurant is fun. It is in a small backstreet of the old harbour. But if you succeed in finding it you will be rewarded. The place has a real local touch. The service is very friendly. Beside the traditional Greek stuff, they serve some authentic local food. The smoked porc in bechamelsauce was delicious. Also more classic food... More

perfect place. Staff was kind, food was delicious. They really take care of the guests. We have been there twice. First we had a plate for 2 with a lot of different local specialities. It was so much, we could not even taste all sorts. Next day i have chosen my favourite, that was staffed aubergine with cheese. Delicious!

We both had lamb, I the roast leg, not much meat on it but lots of potato. My wife had the chops which were mostly fat. Try Moutoupaki next door instead.

We were still blessed with sunshine for a lunch in the atmospheric narrow street where Strata can be found. A warm welcome from the owner and his son started the occasion right. The food is traditional Cretan at its best. Zucchini balls and perfect avocado with taramasalata, provided a great starter. The mains were equally good, complemented with house wine/krassi.... More

We ate here on one ocassion. The restaurant is located on a narrow alley with stone walls on one side. We found the service excellent and again the menu had a good variety and all at a reasonable prices. We spent 36€ on two mains, a side dish and 5 large alcoholic drinks. All the waiters spoke very good English... More

We booked a table at Taverna Strata after reading recommendations in Trip Advisor. What a great place! The taverna was settled in an alley near the harbour. First we got a small ouzo on the house. We ordered garlic bread and then decided to have lamb kleftiko. It was a great choice! We got a huge portion of kleftiko in... More
