Back to the 50s...taverna lost in the past

This taverna was suggested to us from our hotel manager. He explained that it has very good quality food, especially sea food, but it's like a 50s movie setting. He also suggested we should book a table in advance, which was a good idea. When we called around six, all tables near the shore we... read more

This place is difficult to find but you should try it out. It is an exceptional fishtavern combined with cretan cusine. Very high quality food.

This gem is hidden at the eastern end of Chania, in the old leather-processing district of Tabakeria, very much worth visiting on its own. We heard about it from a local friend, highly recommended for excellent food in a beautiful setting, and we were apparently the only non-Greek speaking people there. And, once again, the rule: follow the locals, worked.... More

We visited here last year, where the setting left us amazed but the food and service disappointed. This time around everything was perfect, with a table right on the waters edge and the grilled fish main courses top notch. There is also a great and varied wine list, with the waiting staff far more engaged than previously. Make sure you... More

This is an excellent quiet fish tavern litterally by the sea. Food was great and especially shrimp pasta!

You can enjoy a delicious fish food experience, by sitting directly on a little shore in front of the old town facing the sunset. Greece and Crete at their best, fresh fish cooked in traditional way, simple and tasty. We loved the fisherman salad, fried calamari and octopus are superb, cretan and greek specialties are top level. Service is relaxed... More

Food is Crete is absolutely amazing but if you want a meal that stands out visit Thalassino Ageri for fish and seafood. The scenery is absolutely stunning, you think you are part of a moview set and it is a sort taxi ride from Chania town. Service is excellent and it feels really authentic and local. Try the prawn pasta... More

We visited Thalassino ageri last night for dinner. Although we had a reservation they gave our table to others customers because we arrived 10 minutes late. Food was nice but overpriced for what we had. We visit this place every year during our vacations in Crete, but unfortunately every time we see that changes in a bad way.
