This was one of our top meals in Greece. The location is adorable, on a little alleyway in the old town, with tons of character and charm. The wait staff is super friendly and helpful. The food is traditional Greek/Cretan taverna style food but with a bit of a more modern twist. The apps were our favorite part of the... More

You know how we all tend to adopt a place when we go on holidays. It is as if we were Marco Polo and having 'discovered' that place we cannot wait to advise our friends to be sure to visit when next at that destination. So it was that the street from our hotel near the Palazzo Duco ran adjacent... More

Food with a twist, owned by an Irish lady who has lived here for many years. She has taken fresh local produce and put a "foreign' twist on many local dishes

Very good Greek restaurant! Really local taste in the food! Very kind people and normal prices! We will be back and we recommend to everyone who visit Chania old town!

This restaurant is on Portou Street, a charming little alleyway in the old town with tables on either side, plus inside the restaurant, for cooler fall weather. It is right next to the Strata, where we also ate one evening, but we frankly found the menu a bit more modern and varied here at the Portes and enjoyed our meal... More

A very good, modern take on Greek cuisine. The best olives and bread. The waiter even brought a delicious bonus cake at the end.

I really wanted to love this place but they sort have a snobby attitude. Most places in Crete are so warm and welcoming but we didn't feel that here. The food was good though and well worth a visit.

Excellent choice on both main and specials menus and food lived up to expectations. Staff were efficient and cheery and good seating outside or in as the weather dictates in late October. Good value.

This is one place that really has to be visited at least once during a weeks stay. The food is superb, service is very friendly. One problem of course is to chose between all the good courses on the menu. And the location is very charming. Prices are very reasonable.

We ate chicken from the oven with mashed potatoes, beef with redwhine sauce, greek salad and Tzatziki. The food was ok. But the friendliness of the staff was nil. No welcome no smile, nothing. We felt like a chore to them. Maybe its because it is the last week of the season and they are kind of burned out?!?
