It lived up to expectation

Being in an all inclusive hotel we only ate out 3 or 4 times and this was definitely the best of these meals. We had a lunch there with a light moussaka, which was delicious, also a wonderful salad with roasted tomatoes, aubergines, cheese etc in the most gorgeous tangy dressing. Two of us had... read more

After reading so many reviews I guess my expectations were too high. Food was ok, but had better in other restaurants. I like the location in the cosy street, service was ok, but nothing special. Ordered stuffed courgette flowers and falafel. They were both nice. After tasting octopus in grilled seafood mix in another restaurant we couldn't wait to try... More

Very good food in a very beautiful street of the Old Town of Chania. It is better to book in advance.

This place was great. We sat outside on a warm summer night. I had the cheese and peppers appetizer and the meatballs. He had some other delicious dish. It was a lovely experience.

This place was a huge disappointment. it looks wonderfully cosy, but the food was dull, unspiced and very un-greek. I had a Chicken Kiev, as their other dishes didn't inspire. My partner had a Chicken and vegetables wrapped in paper and cooked in the oven...dry meat, unspiced. To top the whole thing up, the waiter charged us 12 Euro to... More

Located in one of the winding alleyways just inside the city wall, this little taverna served up the best meal we had in Chania. Atmospheric, lovely staff, imaginative menu. couldn't ask for more.

Found this place in the miriads of alleyway restaurants in Chania. Sat outside next to a wall decorated with old doors, the meaning of Portes. All the waiting staff speak good English and were friendly with a liking for humour. The menu caters for all tastes from choice of salads to roasts. We chose chicken kiev and rabbit with prunes.... We were recommended to come here by a Greek friend who said it was the best in Chania- she was right! The food was delicious and the menu was varied. We asked the waiter to choose some local dishes from the menu and loved everything that was brought to us. The restaurant was mostly staffed by a very helpful and... More
