Ate here three times in a week.. Could have eaten here every evening. Atmosphere brilliant. Some people were asking about the owner Susanna.. Saw her once but think it would have been nice for her to maybe have quick chat to people eating in her restaurant . Food excellent and fresh and some interesting choices all beautifully cooked. This was one of our top meals in Greece. The location is adorable, on a little alleyway in the old town, with tons of character and charm. The wait staff is super friendly and helpful. The food is traditional Greek/Cretan taverna style food but with a bit of a more modern twist. The apps were our favorite part of the... More

You know how we all tend to adopt a place when we go on holidays. It is as if we were Marco Polo and having 'discovered' that place we cannot wait to advise our friends to be sure to visit when next at that destination. So it was that the street from our hotel near the Palazzo Duco ran adjacent... More

Food with a twist, owned by an Irish lady who has lived here for many years. She has taken fresh local produce and put a "foreign' twist on many local dishes

This restaurant is on Portou Street, a charming little alleyway in the old town with tables on either side, plus inside the restaurant, for cooler fall weather. It is right next to the Strata, where we also ate one evening, but we frankly found the menu a bit more modern and varied here at the Portes and enjoyed our meal... More

A very good, modern take on Greek cuisine. The best olives and bread. The waiter even brought a delicious bonus cake at the end.

I really wanted to love this place but they sort have a snobby attitude. Most places in Crete are so warm and welcoming but we didn't feel that here. The food was good though and well worth a visit.
