Just back from a weeks stay in crete and ate 5 times in this bistro.cannot fault it any shape or form.the friendliness of the owners, the price of the food and the standard of the food itself makes this an outstanding establishment.recommended without hesitation.

The food here is definitely directed to the tourists - as I lived in Greece for many years, the food I asked for was not available. It's a pity as you don't go on holiday to eat roast dinners and a curry.

Yet again we had a wonderful time on our holiday and spent many happy nights in the Avra Bistro, so friendly and the food did not disappoint.

Can't find any fault with anything in Avra out of 14 days we ate there at least 20 times for breakfast/ lunch/evening meal or just a drink. The two kostas' s and their families are all so friendly hope to see you all again next year and all the friends we have met over the years in Avra

Just returned from a week in Crete where our first and last suppers were eaten at Avra as well as lunches in between. As with other years the food and welcome from the two Costas' just can't be any better. Two of the loveliest gentlemen in Crete. They have renovated the restaurant and it's looking amazing. Can't wait to visit... More

Do you want to offer a good dinner for a special occasion ? Try this restaurant. We did it twice ! Enjoy the very comfortable seats and tables and an excellent meal. Forget the usual beer and get one of these lovely Greek red wines (we had a beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon). The Stifado was wonderful as well as the seafood... More

The food is excellent and the two Costas who run the front of house are really great, even though they are so busy as the place is very popular they manage to have a chat with you. We went to this restaurant three times during our holiday and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this taverna.

We chose this tavern simply because it was close from our hotel, but our guess was right. We had fried anchovis, tomato salad x 2 , feta/tomato stuffed paprika, grilled octopus, fried squid along with 2 large beers ,a large glass of red, coke and a generous portion of ice cream to finish. The bill was just over EUR50. It... More

This place is run by two brothers in law and their wives who do the cooking. Food is plenty and the service is very good.
