We walked by many restaurants that target specifically tourist in the area of Plaka until we found this one. It looked quiet, peaceful thanks to glass panels that divide between the outside seating area and the street, and there wasn't anyone shouting trying to get you inside. We immediately liked it. And the food was really great. It's not greek... More

Mama Roux's had so much to offer food wise. I tried something new every time I went there including their infused drinks and everything was always amazing. I went there multiple times during my three day stay and was never disappointed. The staff was awesome and always polite!

Fantastic food and great service! Their pate is to die for along with their tandoori chicken souvlaki. Nice bar layout.

Very friendly staff and interesting menu with a twist on classic Greek. We had falafel with humous and tabbouleh, a giant fattoush salad and hush puppies which was more than enough for two to share. Relatively inexpensive too. Would go again!

Mama Roux was a refreshing change when it first opened with a variety of Ameran style ethnic food. An eclectic mix of Taco's, Burgers, Tandoori, falafel and more. I used to love going there especially to sit outside but lately the quality of food is simply unacceptable and I always leave with a stomach ache. And is't not cheap either.... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
