Great to have interesting food!

We spent a week in Athens and enjoyed eating souvlaki and all the typical tourist fare. What made this great place stand out was eating outside (even in January) under the heaters, and the menu which offered interesting, fresh ingredients. Plenty of choice if all you wanted was the usual, but... read more

Visited with a friend. Friendly staff, quick service and food was good! We had a couple of glasses of wine and ordered the falafel and quesadilla with cheese. The use of Steelite stoneware is an excellent choice and shows good taste! The food was tasty and good flavours. As you walk past the place it doesn't really seem to look... More

I know this place from the opening time . It was something new , fresh ,interesting with some nice plates . I went before some days with my wife and we disappointed for the first time of the food and the price . We ordered two burgers (the big one) and we drank two glasses of beer and two glasses... More

Average food, average service, average drinks. This place is just plain average. Nice, friendly staff but you need to ask for everything you want at least twice. A few good dishes but nothing to write home about. Nice location but better eats in the neighborhood.

Nice Service, nice non-smoking inside area, and smoking outside, in a busy street downtown and with good food. Did not find anything exceptional but it is generally recommended for a casual lunch or dinner.

I went for a meal with my partner in late October, but luckily it was still quite warm and they were able to find us a table outside, since it was packed inside. We found the service, fast, accomodating and above all efficient. The food, whilst there is quite an ecclectic mix in the menu was superb. The restaurant does... More

It felt a bit wrong eating at Mama Roux when there was so much amazing Greek food on our doorstep but towards the end of our week in Athens, we fancied a change. We were lucky to get a table - it was only because we got there early that we managed as it was all booked up from later... More

We decided to try out this place after reading about it on lonely planet and we weren't disappointed. We tried the chicken donor, chicken wrap, burrito and a salad. Everything was good and my friend who had the burrito felt it was the best he had. The house wine we ordered was also excellent and the staff was great, with... More

By the end of our trip we were sick of the tourist grill stuff served everywhere so we were looking for something else, this is how ended up here. Food, service excellent, vibe, ambience (saturday noonish) even better. Between the shopping district and the oldest part of the town, great point to start walking around the city.

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
