We were there with friends and all of us was very very satisfied with our plates... They give you the chance to choose a little salad so that you can try different ones... That is something important for me who always want to try different salads and mezedes... Also the main courses that we chose were very well-done and substantial.... More

We loved this place. Very tasty, good flavors and exquisite presentation. The salads are truly tasty, and the variety of flavors is heavenly.

Stopped in around 9pm on the recommendation of a friend. We were visiting Athens only for 2 days, so we wanted to make sure we had good dining experiences. Mama Roux did not disappoint. We shared the Moutabal ( smoked eggplant puree with yogurt, minced lamb and beef, parsley, roster almonds and pine nuts), then I had the Tandoori Chicken... More

I ve been a customer at mama roux since its first week of operation. Its true that occasionally the staff is not the kindest you ll find, its true that you might wait long to be served, however the food here will not disappoint you. From a casual salad to a good beaf fillet, you will always find something good... More

We were wandering around the city looking for dinner with our kids and luckily stumbled upon mama roux. The menu has great variety and customization options and all of us were very happy with our meals. The food was very fresh, the drinks were great and the service was excellent. It's a nice break from Greek food and the restaurant... More

Arrived for breaky. After waiting 15mins watching the staff going about their daily chores (whilst acknowledging, but ignoring us) we left for the cafe next door (which PS was full of locals, whilst this place was empty). Perhaps tells you something?

.....to start you day, have a refreshing lunch or relax with afternoon frappe. Unique place in the heart of Plaka. Recommended by locals, so not that 100% touristic.

Food was okay, nothing special. A fun menu if you want to get away from typical Greek fare. Average prices, you can eat inside or outside.

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
