The first night in Athens after two flights from the US and Munich, we were looking for a convenient restaurants that the locals frequent. Ambrosia was just perfect. Bottled water was immediately brought to the table, which many websites warn is brought and charged at a high fee to your bill. The water was large (2 liters), cold and cost... More

Don't come here to get your bottom kissed. For that type of service, check out the "Smile Cafe" which caters to tourists. This unpretentious taverna caters primarily to locals. My wife said "This is the best calamari fritti (squid) I've ever tasted." I really loved my roast lamb platter. Sure its just meat + potatoes but its delicious and cheap.... More

We ate here twice as it was near our hotel. The food was excellent and the portions were large. It was extremely good value compared to the tourist trap restaurants near to the centre of Athens. The service was not terrible but the old chap who appeared to run the place and the main waiter was quite grumpy and we... More

We went to this restaurant on recommendation from our hotel. We ordered a pork chop and lamb on the spit. Both were overlooked and very dry. The pork was not the same as the picture in the menu and was just a piece of meat and chips. Prices were very good for the amount of food we got, but the... More

We were disappointed with this recommendation from our hotel. I guess you get what you pay for. It's cheap, large portions, away from tourist like dining streets...but the food was not fresh, mine was burnt from microwave and friend's was cold in the middle. Service was terrible to what we have had experienced in Greece.

Great food the prices seem very fair but the waiter made no effort to be friendly. The waiter wasn't bad, but not quite as friendly as what we've come to expect from the awesome geek culture.

A very large and spicy pork or chicken souvlaki pita (wrap) with a can of Coke Zero = $3 Euros. Sitting on the street eating your delicious juicy souvlaki pita taunting the many pigeons circling around waiting for a handout = Priceless The souvlaki chef is very nice and asked me in English, "Do you want Everything?" He even gave... More

We found this place after 10 pm when we arrived in Athens late. We only wanted a light meal so had two roast chicken wraps (gyros) a double Greek salad and a half carafe of rose wine, Everything was good including the bill of 13.40 euros., We have been back three times for moussaka. deep fried crisp battered little squid... Fabulous well priced meal in this more traditional style restaurant/taverna in the lovely tree lined Drakou st. We were staying at Hotel Tony & it is just a short walk away. Ample portions & locals eat here too! Not on the main tourist strip and very friendly staff. Our teenagers loved it! In summer make sure you sit outside
