Great atmosphere, creative cooking

Went there the other nigh, enjoyed it for a drink and light meals. I enjoyed the Mediterranean Mojito, with mastikha alcohol, really must try. Had two salads, the salmon and the buffalo mozarella. Good. Service is perfect. You can smoke inside...

It used to be very nice place, with relatively good food and pleasant atmosphere. Strangely, the evolution goes totally wrong way, with service becoming rude and unpleasant (basically, they do not care about your business anymore) and the food following same slope, prepared fast and send out of kitchen even faster, with less than average ingrediants and still same prices.... We visited Gaspar on a special occasion and they really made us feel special! We had excellent service throughout our stay there and were offered complimentary grappa and mastic liqueur at the end. The food was great with special recommendation for the Kritharoto, Gaspar's version of the langustine risotto, made with orzo. The salmon was also excellent! We were lucky... More

Not the first time in, though been there for a business lunch, I went for a Caesar's salad. What I got? 4 slices of chicken, with 4 slices of a cheese "wannabe parmesan", and a mountain of light green lettuce leaves in a pool of runny greasy mayonnaise! Well, this is NOT a caesar's salad. Also ordered as a starter,... More

For sure it is one of the most trendy place in Athens. It has a nice decor and atmosphere. Be ready to pay a high bilk because this place is not the cheapest in Athens. I rather prefer to go there for a late night drink. Which means I am not big fan of the food. Think again if you... More

Gaspar is ideal for people-watching. You can spend a couple of hours enjoying good quality coffee spotting the latest fashion trends. All dishes are thoughtfully prepared, but the cocktails and the desserts really stand out. Do not miss Tommy's margarita and the chocolate dessert. Enough reason for a visit!

The interior and exterior of the building are fantastic, but that's all there is to it. The food is costly and for the price you pay it should be much better than simply decent. The service was soooo bad that everything else seemed pointless. All 2 waiters and the "host" who "served" us had a very very bad attitude and... More

Trendy and nicely decorated place, with just enough of music so you van still have a conversation. A simple menu, correctly executed (we had quite good stir fried beef, salmon and delicious pumpkin soup) but you are coming here for atmosphere more than for food. Service is very bad (long delays to take an order or to clean the table).

This is one of my fav places in athens for a drink or dinner. I love the salmon teriyaki (yummy) and their salads. Their drinks are very good as well. Prices are medium to high (surely not cheap but not too extreme either), and people in there are classy in general. On Fridays/weekends it gets a little overcrowed and the... More

Located north of Athens, near psixiko square, Gaspar is for sure one of most popular places around. Very warm and nice decoration, pleasant music which allows you to talk with your company and very tasty food! Salads are great and also two main dishes that I have tried. Prices are normal compared to the whole ambiance which is a bit... More

Staying in Omonia

Neighborhood Profile
Omonia
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
