Great little resturant

Just a great start to our stay in Greece after the long flight from Sydney, Fresh, different and delightful. Waiters helpful and serve just the right amount. Try the eggplant, the mushrooms. Had a lovely dinner here with my husband this evening. The house white wine was sweet but the price was even sweeter. We loved the spicy cheese "salad", dream mushrooms, and tzaziki. We didn't think the zucchini fritters lived up to the hype but they weren't bad either.

Very nice Greek dishes, with interesting spices. The service a little bit less good, but worth the food. Pretty calm environment. Recommend!

We shared several very tasty dishes, including the meatballs in special sauce, and it was all delicious and very reasonably priced. The chairs were uncomfortable but you forgot this in the charming atmosphere.

My husband and I stopped here to have a drink and a snack on our last day in Athens. It's just one street over from Adrianou, which is the main tourist street in the Plaka neighborhood. It was such a relief to go from that crowded noisy atmosphere to the quiet shade of this restaurant. We ordered the house white... More

It was difficult to find but well worth the search. It was tucked away in a small road and musicians stopped by to play for us. The food and atmosphere were awesome.

At just five minutes walk from the Acropolis, it's very hard to find a restaurant where the food is of excellent quality, the service is friendly, personal but never pushy, prizes are very decent, and tourist activity seems far away. Yet it exists, all in one, in this beautiful taverna. The food is meant to share and is traditional Greek... More

Worth while a visit! Very good food and super nice people! Not pushy at all, unlike most of the other restaurants near the acroplolis.

A local recommended this place and we loved it! My husband and I split the meatballs, greek salad, and another appetizer. Wine of course. They have their own red wine, I actually prefer white, but this one was wonderful. Gracious staff and very affordable dinner. Cant go wrong here.

To Kafeneio place is certainly by no means a tourist trap - I stumbled upon the tavern as I was looking for a quiet place for a late lunch and I was certainly not disappointed. There are not too many tourists in this area because this is not the heart of Plaka. The seating area outside is shaded and great to... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
