Tasty souvlaki and a real Greek experience

It's worth seeking out this small eatery not far from Syntagma Square. Food is made fresh to order so you may have to wait. There are benches outside. Absolutely delicious and only 2.50 euros each. Only pork left when we arrived at 2pm but no problem. Friendly staff and an authentic Greek... read more

Late post (June 2014). The best souvlaki in Athens. Came here 3 out of the 5 days that we were in Athens. I like mine with hot sauce so I brought some sriracha on the trip. Miss this place.

Souvlaki with a wonderful taste. All the materials are fresh and the meat doesn't have any fat. it's open from Monday to Saturday until 15:00. It doesn't have delivery but accept telephone orders. You have patience till to order, but worth it. And as Kostas says “no stress". Value for money

This is a small and efficient souvlaki storefront that serves up tasty "palm-sized" souvlakis for take-out. Order 2 if you're really hungry. We arrived around 1 pm and got the last beef souvlakis, though we ordered both beef and pork. Get there early as a busy local lunch crowd determines what's available. The souvlakis are simply and freshly prepared, not... More

This is a local institution and serves wonderful, cheap Gyros but be prepared to wait as it is very popular with locals, many of whom order ahead and then come to collect. It only cost us Euro 6.5 for two Pork Gyros, two 500ml bottles of water and a bottle of orange drink. It is close to Syntagma square so... More

Quality is great for it's price, only €2,2 for one souvlaki. Perfect as a small lunch. When you're very hungry one souvlaki probably won't be enough but the low price makes it perfectly possible to have two.

Kostas was our lunch the first day in Athens and seemed to be a local favorite. The value for the food was amazing and the service was awesome! Very simple greek food yet very delicious and would definitely recommend to anybody traveling to Greece!

Easily the best souvlaki I had on our trip to Greece. Perfect balance of all the ingredients, not greasy. Well worth the 2.20 euros - went back the following day too! Was busy both times I went and deservedly so.

Tiny little take out shack with a bench seat outside serving souvlaki. They are not greasy which is hard to get in Athens: freshly made to order and top quality. About 2euro's each.

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
