"Souvlaki of the gods"

As my husband and I were walking up, a local man walked by with his order in hand and said "souvlaki of the gods!" He was certainly right! Even my burps were delicious after finishing my souvlaki. Wish I could go back for another!

This is a must eat in Athens! We came there three times and it was always full! A lot of locals come there. You will probably have to wait for few minutes but it´s worth the waiting! So if you want a great cheap meal this is the place!

only one disadvantage after 1500 the shop is closing, The only choice is pork souvlaki (ψαρονεφρι) Delicious, healthy and simple souvlaki based on an Armenian recipe. The only similar souvlaki is Eddy in Nikea before 2004. May the best souvlaki in Greece

Slouvakis were 2 euros each and the most delicious that we had in all of Athens. The owners were incredibly kind and efficient. This restaurant is really small and has locals lined up outside, so you might want to go a bit before or after lunch time (2ish PM). Warning: it does close around 4 or so (not positive on... More

Walking around Athens, we wanted to eat something quick and local, avoiding touristic and pricy places. A Greek friend advised us to try Kostas which couldn't have been any better for our needs. They only serve souvlaki , very fresh and nice pita bread, all served with vegetables and yoghurt ( optional). The service is very friendly and quick, not... More

As a Greek souvlaki lover, i can say this one suits my taste 100%. The place belongs to a young and funny couple Kostas and Poppi which will give you one of the best pork meet you can have on a souvlaki and sometimes if you are lucky (because of the small quantity) you can have a souvlaki with beef... We enjoyed spending time in quirky Kostas perhaps even more than we enjoyed the souvlaki (which was also fantastic!) The place was filled with a variety of souvlaki-seekers. Ouzo is on the house!

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
