A bit more expensive, but you cannot beat the view!

Definitely an upscale, perhaps a bit touristy restaurant. However, the view of the Acropolis cannot be beat, and the indoor and outdoor spaces are beautiful. Excellent service, and really good food. A good place for a special celebration during your Athens vacation.

We came here simply for the view. However food was really good too. Steak was lovely and the octupas was the best ever had. It is pricey but in honesty worth it 1, for view, 2, for the food and finally the service is good.

You don't eat here for the food. You eat here for the view and the experience. The view of the Acropolis and the light show...spectacular. It is a pricey meal to be sure but you deserve one fancy meal in Athens. The food is average, the service above average, but it's all about that view. $12 for a bowl of... More

Generally restaurants with amazing views have average food! I'm pleased to say that this is an exception to that rule. We enjoyed excellent food and wine during our visit to Athens last week , to the extent that we also booked it for my daughter and her fiancée 5 days later when there also visited. This was a one night... More

Instead of showing us the elevator to the Acropolis, our tour guide suggested we wait at this restaurant. It was a beautiful place, especially on the inside. The service however was awful! We were seated at least 15 minutes before a server came over (and it was not busy). We ordered 2 beers and a meze platter. After another long... More

Food was excellent and staff excellent too. Amazing view of Parthenon and despite this it was not a tourist trap. Really enjoyed the food & wine. Very nice.

Amazing location with view. Service was quite good, but could be better given the prices. A very touristy spot. Appetizers were very good. Mains were a little disappointing after our meal at Aleria.

On our last night in Athens we asked our hotel to recommend a restaurant with a great view of Acropolis/Parthenon, they made reservations for us at Dionysus. The food and service were both very good. The view of the Parthenon especially as the sun set was truly spectacular. Prices, as expected were on the higher end. We enjoyed a memorable... More

The restaurant is sensational! Luckily, my fiancé and I were able to make a reservation this past Thursday night at the restaurant just in time to watch the sunset over the Acropolis, and the hostess sat us at a table on the balcony, which gave us a perfect view. The service started out slow, but once our busy waiter was... More

Given the location with a fabulous view of a world-wonder, this restaurant was expected to be average - average on food quality and probably below average on service and certainly above average on price. Not true. The food was very good, not amazing, but very good. Service I found to be excellent. The waiters really wanted to please. The view... More

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighborhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
