Unforgettable view, ok food, good service

You come here for the fantastic view of the Acropolis, that's it, everything else is extra. As you can see from the pictures, the location is right at the foothills of the Acropolis, you can't get a bad view from this spot. The service was good, the crowd is touristy, but we are tourists... read more

We went for a dinner and breaksfast and all we ate was really good (quality and price) The service was amazing and we enjoyed our stay a lot. Also there is a place in the beach with comfortable and nice seats and umbrellas.

Wow! What a spectacular view of the Acropolis and the Parthenon! Not just that, but the food at this restaurant was spectacular, as was the service and the ambience. All in all a fantastic restaurant in a fantastic location!

To dine under the stars with the Acropolis in full view was as good as you will get dining out in Greece Total sophistication with a touch of first class. This restaurant has it all. The staff are friendly and professional, and the food and presentation excellent.Wine list is a little $$$, but with the help of our very good... More

My father introduced us to Dionysos Zonar's and we have not missed going there on every trip to Greece since we first went. We have celebrated birthdays, Christmas Holidays, and summer family outings at both the outdoor restaurant and formal dining room. The view of the Acropolis, day or night is stupendous, the area is lovely, close to the Hill... More

Visited as heard the view was great and had to agree. However for the price tables too close together and food below average and was not as expected . Starters of mushrooms and octopus. Mushrooms came with bacon but no bacon advertised and some mushrooms over cooked a snot enough seasoning and no sauce which was needed. Octopus a real... More

My wife and I had a beautiful meal here. We had a great booth type table overlooking the Acropolis. The service was very good and all staff were attentive and friendly. The standout was the fried squid which was easily the best I've had anywhere in the world, magnificent! The sea bass and Dolmatas were beautiful also. It is expensive... More

We stopped by for a couple of beers and toast to relax in the shadow before going to the Acropolis itself. That and a bottle of water set us back €25. We enjoyed our stay with a view of the Acropolis before going up there ourselves. They accept credit cards too.

The hotel my wife and I were staying at (Electra Palace) recommended Dionysos. I said I wanted to experience a modern Greek restaurant as opposed to a traditional taverna. I was not disappointed. In fact I was blown away! Dionysos is housed in a modern, spacious split level building featuring a terraced outdoor area, located at the foot of the... More

This was the highlight dinner on our honeymoon stop in Athens. We had an amazing table with an amazing view of the Acropolis. The wall of windows slide open to give an absolutely glorious view of the sites. The food was excellent and we stayed until closing. Worth the money, definitely.

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighborhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
