Pricey, maybe touristy? but completely worth it! A Must do in Athens!

We came here from our local friend's recommendation. Food was quite pricey for Athens but the view was TO DIE FOR. I don't think you can a better view than Dionysos! In a restaurant like this, one would normally expect your money would pay for the view, but I tell ya, the food was incredible as... read more

We visited Dionyssos for their new year's eve dinner. The main thing about this venue is the stunning views from the restaurant, and we were lucky to get by their huge floor to ceiling windows. We almost forgot about the dinner while we were there. The service is very attentive and full marks there. The food, compared to the location... More

Every time I visited the Acropolis (3 times), while in Athens, I stopped at this beautiful and welcoming restaurant, with the most unforgettable view. I cannot evaluate their food, as I only had sandwiches, but the staff was always very courteous. The sandwiches were good, but, with that view, you don't even pay much attention to what you are eating.... More

My wife and I had a great meal here on the recommendation of our hotel (O&BB) and TripAdvisor. There was a wonderful view of the Acropolis. We sat outside on the terrace. I had the calamari for an appetizer which was excellent. My wife ordered salmon and grilled vegetables for her main and I had the slow cooked lamb. Both... More

We had Christmas dinner and it was wonderful. We're both vegetarians (which is NOT easy in Greece) and the wait staff were very helpful in tailoring dishes so that we could enjoy many flavors from the menu. The wine list is extensive (but the staff don't seem exactly versed in comparing Greek wines vs. French, etc.). Request a table with... More

This was the first meal my wife and I had in Greece on our honeymoon. We'd just arrived from the States after almost a full day of airports and cab rides. Exhausted, yet excited, we asked our hotel doorman where he recommended that was romantic and had a great view. Dionysos Zonar's was the one he described that sounded like... More

Apart of the dinner which was delicious, the service is faboulous, nice wines and high quality products. But the best, to see the Parthenon. A memorable stay.

We went there after walking through the plaka and past the Acropolis and had a great business dinner. Good food, view and wine.

We (a couple) had a business meeting in the center, and we desided to have a coffee while waiting at the Dionysos cafe. The place is very elegant, and has the best view that a cafe can have in the city center. We enjoyed our cold coffee while observing the beauty of Parthenon right in front of us. The reputation... When I'm in Athens, I really love to have dinner or coffe in The Dionysos Zonar's Restaurant. The food is fantastic, a very professional service. They receive you with a smiling face. Also they have it a very good wine quality. I do recommend to any even for a nice coffe with the Acropolis View!! Mercedes..

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighborhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
