Have a drink in this gorgeous hotel!

We went for a drink in the stunningly beautiful and historic hotel. (Look in to its history before you go.) The bar, and dining area is so very elegant and a drink is a great excuse to enjoy the ambiance.

Had lunch today, and it was superb. Their riff on salad Niçois, and it was spectacular. Not inexpensive, but delicious.

It was supposed to be a top place for tea in Athens. However, the tea was not top, the scones were more like muffins. The prices were too expensive

I had afternoon tea in Grande Bretagne and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was accompanied by scones, cake, sandwiches etc served in a beautiful winter garden. The highlight was the pianist! It was quite expensive though.

What used to be GB Corner is now the hotel shop. Most reviews seem to be about the tea room - the Winter Garden - which is not somewhere to eat out unless you want high tea, in which case it's hard to beat (if rather expensive) if only for the ambience. PAB Athens

I would never usually pick a 5 star hotel in Athens for lunch because of the price. However, I treated myself on this occasion and I was impressed. The cost of a sandwich here is around 16 Euro and a coffee 7 Euro so yes, very expensive. However, the food was delicious, beautifully presented and it was an enormous portion.... More

Very professional and friendly service. Beautiful surroundings, very comfortable arm chairs. Snack and food quality needs drastic improvement. Unacceptable wine service. Brunello is served literally warm in a ridiculous quality glass but it is still charged @ 15 euros.. Food is again medium quality, pity for a place like this. Drop the prices, add some good greek wines and improve... More

This is a beautiful room in a very upscale old-world hotel in the best location in Athens! But 38 Euros for high tea - tea and finger sandwiches [& no gluten items]... well it is a great hotel to visit and you can see the room for free.

One the most beautiful place I saw in Athens... Was there for a business lunch in one of the lounge areas. The buffet was absolutely excellent.

Staying in Syntagma

Neighborhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
