We ate here for dinner 2 nights in a row whereas we would very rarely eat in a restaurant more than once on holiday. The food was amazing on both nights and the terrace enclosed in winter still retained an amazing view. What set the restaurant apart for me (food aside) was the live piano music. We visited Athens over Christmas 2015 and visited Strfo twice, once for an evening meal & once for lunch. Both meals were delicious and reasonable value for money bearing in mind the quality and location of the restaurant. The view of the Acropolis Hill & Parthenon are quite amazing from the roof terrace. The terrace is fully enclosed during the... More

I must say we found this on trip advisor and just decided to give it a try as it was walking distance from our hotel and we had recently landed. When we arrived, whilst it was very busy the staff, still gave us a table on the terrace. Candle lit, with a great view, the restaurant was already a winner.... More

One of my favourite spots in Athens! Excellent traditional food cooked in a nice traditional way, amazing views to the Parthenon and value for money for what it offers(might be a bit expensive for Greeks but considering the price you pay in other countries, it is definitely a must!) Try the fava, fried courgettes balls, vineleaves, mastelo and the lamp..yummy!

Incredible food and service, very good relation quality/price, excellent Christmas menu and everything with Acropolis by night as background! Highly recommendable for someone staying in Athens and wanting to eat real greek food with high standards. If it is available ask for the terrace to enjoy vistas, in winter is closed and heated.

If you are looking for great food and the most amazing view, this is the place. The food and service are excellent but nothing can match the location (right next to the Acropolis)

Amazing view at the foothills of the Acropolis, attentive service, delicious food. Recommended by our hotel - was the best meal we had in Athens. Chilly on the rooftop with plexiglass so wear your coat but views are surreal. Make sure to order the pita bread, the fava, the giant beans. Delicious food, best service ever! Two thumbs up!!

On our last night before returning home we wanted to have a great meal with a view. Sat outside on a small balcony. Service was OK and the food exceptional. Location was in an upscale residential area away from the tourist noise.

My second visit. This time with a group of 7 for a birthday dinner at 21:00 (the other time a very big wedding dinner). Seating was on the top floor, - the open top terrace in summer - with warm heating, live music on the e-piano, and that magnificent view of acropolis. The staff is very attentive but still discreet.... More

We met up with 6 additional people, so 8 total, and had a great view of the Acropolis and Parthenon at night. It was all lit up and thrilling. Food was good and very reasonable.

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighborhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
