I went to this restaurant, while visiting for a day Viana. My boyfriend is from Porto and we went for sightseeing and walking through the city. We were hungry and looking for a place to eat when we passed this lovely restaurant, Casa d´Armas. Once inside I though, wow nice place, but maybe it will be really expensive! He said:... More

Well I'm afraid I have to agree with others!! It truly looks and feels great, when one enters, very nice Bottles of Old Wine, nice Bar, white table cloths etc, and one would expect a great Evening!! Well what can say, except forget ALL that, TOTALLY disappointing! Service a joke, Food well the Roast Beef looked, and was I believe... More

The restaurant has interesting decoration. Looks typical and "old". The food was a real disapointement. The soop was awful, based on water and floating oil, and few vegetables taste. We ordered a cod rice, that had no flavour. It was though a bit expensive. The service was friendly but not extraordinary.

We have been visiting this lovely restaurant for many years. We find the standard is excellent and consistent, the owners professional and good at running their restaurant. It is very clean and we have never had a bad meal in almost 20 years. It is one of the reasons we return regularly to Viana do Castelo.

My advice is simple: don't repeat our same mistake. Don't be fooled by the inviting interior and simply stay away from this restaurant. That is, unless you enjoy being treated like a sack of dung, even though you are parting ways with an enormous amount of money. Like I already mentioned, the place looks the part. They do alright with... More

Poor service from a waiter who wasn't at all interested in us. Food mediocre and prices high. Would not recommend this place .

Liked the decor, ambiance, all "old-portugeuse" inside. We were really taken aback by the waiter's attitude. He was so unfriendly and grumpy. We had eaten tapas prior to coming to this restaurant, so just wanted soup and starter portions of food, this seemed to really irritate him , (though we were still spending 75 Euros on food and wine and... There are some great restaurants in Viana do Castelo and this isn't one of them. Why do people head here like lemmings? The service was absolutely terrible, so bad that I refused to pay the service charge, which I never do. The wine was overpriced and not up to scratch, the beef was so chewy I gave up and it... More

A nice restaurant, with good food, served with as much of a fanfare as possible (several dishes seemed to require being flambed at the table!) and a nice atmosphere.

Awful service, really unfriendly, and despite the interesting menu and various wines by the glass to try, not worth the effort. Would just go somewhere else.
