We had a delicious monkfish stew here. Having eaten lots of fish dishes around Portugal this rated as one of our favourites! It is a pretty restaurant near the port with a great range of fresh fish on offer.

First of all, therestaurant has moved its entrance around the corner and it looks like recently refurbished. A bit more modern. However the quality of the food is still very good. We had grilled sole which was to perfection. We did see several other dishes come by that also looked very tastefull. Prices are very reasonable we had to pay... More

It is such a treat to have fresh grilled fish at reasonable prices. YOu see the fish when you come in and they grill it right at the entrance to the restaurant. The restaurant is like a long hallway with no windows, so don't expect much 'ambiance' - but do go here for a wonderful meal of grilled fish. We... More

The food at Taberna do Valentim is excellent. They have a menu with several types of grilled fish and some stews. If you decide to take grilled fish, it's always good to ask what's fresh today and you most certainly won't get disappointed. If they bring you some fried codfish balls before the dinner, you have to try them. In... More

Nice place for eating dinner with reasonable prices. Restaurant looks to be among favourites, because it was quite full and staff pretty busy. We ordered cataplana and stew fish and we received two big pots of food we almost didn't manage to eat :) althought the women at the next table didn't look so happy about their sardines...

We are seafood addicts so not that easily pleased. When you see turbot ,sea bass and sole main courses all priced around 12 euro it is time to smile. When the food appears perfectly cooked and in generous portions, then the smile turns to a grin. We dined here twice during a four day visit to Viana do Castelo and... More

We arrived at the restaurant 5 minutes before 10 pm and entering we had to go through a wall of smoke coming fm the grill ... ok reasonable for a restaurant but after have awaited five minutes in front of the desk where the Owner(?) and a waitress were discussing we were told with self-importance that the kitchen stop working...
