We went here to sample some different ports in order to make a buying decision on some bottles to take home. They had a great selection and gave some good advice. In addition the staff gave us some ideas of Quinta's to visit on our trip to the Duoro area later iin the week. This is a great place to... More

Forget the big Caves in Gaia's side of the river. I respect all of them, specially Noval. Vinologia is a small place and focus on Port wine. Very good and special ones. When I mean special doesn't mean the top ones in terms of price, but in terms of good quality, great cost/benefit and reasonable prices from excepcional small producers'... More

Three of us headed to Vinologia to commence our journey into the fascinating world of Port. This cosy wine bar with it's friendly staff who speak brilliant English, as well as many other languages, was a delight. We chose a €20 tasting with which you receive 6 glasses of port to taste and 3 matching cheeses. Our waitress, Sophia was... More

This place in the core of Porto is perfect for discovering everything Port wine has to offer, and it is plenty ! They offer a lot of tasting possibilities, from 10 to 100 euros and more. You can also have, for 2 extra euros, a taste of matching cheeses from Portugal. As a pure Frenchmen I find it a bit... More

If you are looking for a restaurant, this place is mostly just for snacks between a glass or two or 11 of Port. If you are looking for Ports, this is THE place to visit. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Custom menus also possible. By all means, visit while staying in Porto. :)

This is definitely the best place to learn about Porto wines before you go visit anything else. The owner is very friendly and he gave us full info about everything that we wanted to visit. Here you can enjoy rare Porto wines, have a flight of a selection of different kinds of Porto's and also have some light food to... More

Many different types of Oporto to try accompanied with an expert explanation about the various nuances between them. Light cosy atmosphere, French inspired with friendly service and good prices. A 'must visit' even if you aren't a fan of Oporto wine. Hint: tell them about your preferences on wine, they'll surprise you :)

We stayed at The Guest House Douro right on the Douro River. Jaoa & Carmen sent us to Vinologia: La Maison des Portes. It's magical!! Located on the bottom floor of an old yellow building you might accidentally pass right by it is historic & intimate. Yes, you should visit the other side of the river & see all the... More
