On the first floor of a historical site in Porto's downtown, recently opened a small quiet restaurant, called Camafeu. Go back to the times where you had a meal at your grandparent's place, where the decor was romantic but eclectic and where you can indulge yourself on mouth-watering but not-pretentious food.At dinner time, you are invited to stay for a late drink and enjoy, through the big windows, the scenery of the square bellow (Praca Carlos Alberto, named after our late King). We invite you to try the tender Sirloin steak or the Duck with figg jam, or the Prawn porridge among other fabulous appetizers and main-courses. Everybody will love our home-made desserts. Don't forget to ask for the famous Portuguese wine from the Douro region, either it's Port, White or Red.

Great food and lovely setting

This is a very unassuming little restaurant. You enter in to what looks like a block of flats and walk up to the first floor where you eat in what can only be described as feeling like someone's living room. There's only about 10 tables. The food was amazing. I had scallops to start, then pig... read more

This was the sort of place you would never find without seeing previous trip advisor reviews. A very small upstairs restaurant with hardly no signage outside. We had soup of the day and Scallops to start and both dishes were excellent, we then had the Monkfish and rive stew and the Duck leg, again the flavours and quality surpassed expectations.... More

A wonderful experience from beginning to end... We didn't expect to get a table but on the off chance we walked in and were told they could fit us in half an hour later. Delicious food (the veal was amazing), in a lovely candle-lit environment - definite highlight of our trip to Porto.

Tiny place that has loads of atmosphere and a supper club feel. Outstanding food and really friendly service. Can't recommend enough - worth the trip to Porto alone.

Small venue located upstairs. We arrived without a reservation as were initially turned away but the manager interceded and squeezed the three of us in. We had our best meal here during our stay in Porto. I see there is a recent review calling it a let down...for crying out loud these people ordered cod--a tasteless and thoroughly boring fish... After reading all the fabulous reviews we were looking forward to visiting this restaurant. Unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype. We had scallops as a starter which were served with a little side salad (rocket&walnut halves). We couldn't believe we had two tiny tasteless scallops for 11 €uros. We both also had the same main courses which were... More

Last saturday we had our dinner here. At first the restaurant is hard to find especially when its dark. You wouldn't expect a restaurant on the first floor of a normal house, what gives it a very nice and romantic ambiance. The food was very nice also. Personel was kind and helpfull.

Beautfully decorated intimate setting that seats around 24. Beautiful bread, entree of Portuguese sausage, duck for main and a dessert tasting plate for me... washed down with a delicate white wine (half bottle). All the elements of greatness! Great food, service, setting and location. Would recommend making a reservation to avoid being turned away. Highly recommended *****
