Don Tonho has a place on the 'other' Riverside, Well known as Gaia. We asked the people of the bureau of tourism to make our reservation. We got a table by the Riverside...the darker it got, the more breathtaking the view was! Very, very, very beautiful! The service was more than suberb. The girls who served us went out of... More

D. Tonho is one of most well-known restaurants at Cais da Ribeira. I had dinner there last October and enjoyed the food, the wine and the general atmosphere. I got a table as near as possible of the beautiful Douro River, almost under the unforgettable D. Luís I Bridge, and left the breeze inspire my mind, soul and taste. I... More

This a highly recomended to me for my friends, but for my personal experience unfortunately i cannot recomended. The bread was terrible, olive oil the worst that i have in Portugal, the fish was good, sardinhas was nice but not exceptional, so the restaurant is a perfect trap for the tourist. The excelent loacalization that was enough to return there.

A party of four of us had our New Years Eve dinner at this resturant. I can honestly say it was the worst meal the four of us had in Porto. From the moment we arrived the staff was rude and unhelpful. They told me I did not have a reservation and I did. When he finnaly found it he... More

We have been to this restaurant 5 times in 5 years. All previous visits were excellent - good food, attentive staff, nice atmosphere but this time we have come away bitterly disappointed. Here in Portugal and Spain it is a busy holiday weekend yet at Don Tonho there were only 3 waiting-on staff. We arrived at around 8pm this evening... More

We've been here for lunch, had some tapas. All were delicious but the beefsteak was amazing. It was the best one we ever had on earth. Prices are quite reasonable, 75€ in total for five people, with wine, deserts and all. Service and cleanliness was also satisfactory.

It opens at 7:30 p.m.which sometimes is inconvenient, but other thant this we loved the restaurant because we could sit outside and have a wonderful view. Although the appetizers are pre-prepared they are good. The food is delicious and we went there twice. The waiter was initially very pushy, but as we said we wanted to have a very calm... More

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel but we were slightly worried after reading recent reviews in T A. We arrived at opening time 7.30 pm because that was the only time we could book an outside table. The view was excellent but then again we were worried by the starters which were all pre-prepared and arrived at out table... More

Mis-led by the guide Michelin and an inexperienced hotel receptionist, we booked at this place. The booking would not have been necessary as the restaurant was only half occupied (95% tourists). The service provided by our waiter was a reflection of this type of establishment. Pushy, fast, non-personal. The appetizer selection was sub-standard and nothing worth to mention and the... More

I went to the restaurant with my boyfriend because we were looking for traditional Portuguese cuisine and we heard about this place from the hotel clerk. Any way it was a total disappointment. The servers were unfriendly and one of them was downright rude to us. She refused to translate the names of the dishes saying that they were Portuguese... More
