Charming and memorable

We read that Chez Lapin was a good place to go to try traditional Portuguese cuisine, and as we were staying near the river, we wanted to try a 'local'. The title of the review says it all--the location is the best part of this restaurant. Granted, it may be better than most of the touristy restaurants in the area, but if you are looking for an exceptional meal, go to a different restaurant. This is a perfect spot to stop if you are interested in sitting outdoors by the... More

There was a good memory of eating at Chez Lapin, some years ago. Last week food was moderate but the mentality off the staff was disappointing. We felt like tourists; really exceptional for our two week holiday in Portugal.

We are a group of Chinese tourists of 3. There's a black waitress named Katia was kinda racist. She kept ignoring us no matter what we requested. At last we had to shout at her to get out check, like we were begging to pay. Should have just gone. Btw the food was moderate. All three dishes tended to be... More

restaurant has nice environment but the food was so so. I ordered roasted octopus, and it was salty.

We chose to sit inside instead of out as it was a bit chilly. The room was odd to say the least. Tiled walls covered in diners graffiti which made it fairly unique. The waiter was attentive and helpful. I had chicken and my husband had rabbit. Both were lovely and plentiful. Would happily visit again.

Well presented Restaurant on the Ribeira Quay, right by the Douro with views of the bridge. We were there as evening lights came on - lovely experience. My wife had salmon andI tried the garlic steak. Large portions, but the steak was mediocre. Salmon good though. Decent bottle of local Dalva wine for 14 euro. The upstairs loo was a... More

Beware if you have a heart problem as the salt levels in the food will be sure to cause heart attack!! Luckily our hearts okay but after eating few mouthfuls of the specialty octopus needed to consume multiple glasses of beer and water. Even the Portuguese on table next to us struggled and complained. Makes the local salt cod look... More

Staff are eager to get you off the street and into a chair, but service stops there. My wife went to the washroom while I tried to get a waiter's attention. The young girl I hailed asked me if I was ready to order? We didn't even have menus yet and I tried to explain that, but she just drifted... More

This was our first meal in Porto, the restaurant is well decorated, the servers are really kind, and our server can speak French so it was easy for us to communicate. As for the food we ordered a entrée of sausage rolls, it was good at first but then we found that it was too salty. And for the main... More
