Historic place with mainly tourists

We started our weekend in Porto here with coffee and a pastel de nata. It is a very beautiful place where you can 'taste' the history. When we were there, there were only tourists. Unfortunately the pastel the nata was not warm, I did expect that for the price you pay there, a lot more than in... read more

Recommended by a very nice tour guide, the place is excellent. Clean (you may check the lavatories!), very good service, many locals eating there (and some tourists). The meal was very well presented, the staff is kind and friendly and the prices are fair. If you do not eat much you can share a dish. Try the Alvarinho Santiago (Quinta... More

Service par excellence , five stars quality at 3 stars price. A repeat for sure. Meticulously clean from table linen to washroom. Good selection of wine bottles at varied prices . Delicious seafood bisque , rice with seafood is worth ordering (large pieces of lobster) , fish was delicious, and all vegetables were cooked perfectly. We cannot imagine any couple... More

Abadia is a restaurant frequented by locals and not (only) tourists. Sou you can have a real experience of Porto/Portuguese traditional cuisine. For cod lovers (not me!) Bacalhau à Braga (Codfish in Braga style) is a must. I had a Tamboril (kind of fish stupidly delicious) and Shrimp rice so tasteful - Umami so to say. The price is a... More

We had a fine meal in this attractive restaurant, well-presented and competently served. The fish dishes were especially recommendable. The menu is standard fare but of high quality and at a fair price. Not as glamorous as some of the spots down on the ribeira, but you won't likely regret this as a dinner choice during a stay in Porto.

Our food was very mediocre - and the service left a lot to be desire. my wife had the steak, she mentioned that she like it blue but it came out well done. We sent it back and after telling the waiter that blue is very rare, it came back blue but cold, this by then matched the vegetables that... More

I've eaten in this restaurant several times. What I find there is a great service, with a great atmosphere and really good tradicional Portuguese food, especially the rich northen dishes. A place to return often!

If you happen to be in the neighbourhood and in the mood for high quality portuguese food then this is definitely the place to go. I go there every year for a little taste of "Bacalhau à lagareiro" (confit codfish) and they never fail to deliver. In case you are looking to go there for dinner and over the weekend... More

Our party of 10 ate here and had an excellent meal with good recommendartions for wine by the manager. The staff were friendly and the food was almost as good as at O Paparico.

Stayed in Porto only for a weekend so asked my hotel receptionist to recommend a good place to eat portuguese food, but to avoid pricey places. He mentioned Abadia and we went there for a dinner, had great soup and tasty fish with potatoes, and since I was feeling a bit sick, waiter brought me a tea. So I can... More
