Best bolinho

It was a nice surprise. We got in attracted by a Michelin indication of 2012... Not really a Michelin restaurant, but the best bolinho de bacalhau (fish croquettes) I ate in Portugal. Looked better than an average Portuguese eating please and thought we deserved this. The food was not bad, but the waiters seemed not really interested though they were pushing a bit to take things we did not want. Wines are expensive. The music noisy and horrible (but this seems to be the standard in many Spanish and Portuguese restaurants, as... More

We found this place bases on TA reviews and weren't disappointed. We were the first customers of the evening at 7:20 but more people came later. We started with shrimp salad and for main course had garlic shrimp and a strip steak. Both well prepared and presented and very tasty. Service very good as well.

With just a day to experience as much as we could of this wonderful town, we walked most of the town and visited the historical sites and worked up a good appetite. By shear luck, we selected Solar do Arco for our meal. It looked very appealing from the outside, the interior lovely and the posted menu enticing. Fortunately we... More

Well located in the historic centre. Food was ok but was expecting more traditional/local dishes given the previous reviews. Staff was very attentive and recommended well a very good local vinho verde.

The restaurant is nice just since the entrance, their walls in stone are just amazing and reveals part of the historic center of this city. The service was excellent, very kind and on time. The food was very taste, for dinner they have several options that include meat, fish, rice, salads and vegetarian options with a good variety of wines,... More

Just happened on this little restaurant, and enjoyed a very nice meal. Starter prawn and salad (expected a prawn cocktail type dish) beautifully cooked warm prawns served with salad and pickled vegetables. We then had the days special, white beans chorizo and bacon, very nice. Very reasonable cost, and excellent service, I would defiantly recommend a visit.

We made a day trip to Guimaraes and looked out for Solar do Arco based on a recommendation my husband found on-line and we were not disappointed. It is a small restaurant, very traditional and most likely family run. The waiter was wonderful and the food was really very good. The fish is prepared and seasoned perfectly. I had the... More

I guess the Michelin stars do say something. This was a nice place, excellent service for not such a high price. Most importantly, excellent shrimp and a perfectly baked salmon steak. To be recommended, no doubt about it.

Very good dishes (specially the seafood) , respecting traditional portuguese cuisine, good service, but expensive. Very well placed in a beautiful spot.
