Dined here on our early July stay in Funchal. This is a newish restaurant in a block building serving the hotels in the lido area of Funchal. It is on the old lower road opposite the MMM Hotel, but this road is now part of the new contra flow system so gets more traffic flow. This now means if you choose to dine... Had the flambé steak, worst mistake ever! 12 hours later it was no stop throwing up which when on for some hours until I could get hold of some anti sickness tablets. My partner had seafood which hadn't been cleaned properly and was over cooked. I spent the flight home with a sick bag, you have been warned!

Very good food - flambee creates a bit of a show but curried prawns excellent. Being right next to a road is a bit of a drawback. Vegetables probably overdone but I'd happily return.

We have visited this restaurant about 3 or 4 times now and we generally find that it is an enjoyable and delicious meal. The staff are very friendly and the menu is quite varied. Please note, you get loads of accompaniments with your main course - fried maize/rice/salad/potatoes so come with an empty stomach! Our particular favourites are the flambe... More

We started our week here as it was over the road from the hotel and raved about it so much that we finished the holiday off here as well. As other reviews have stated, the portions are very large but no complaints from me on that score. When we next go back, I know where I'll be heading for a... More

On our first night in Funchal we went to the nearest restaurant and went back every other night as the food, service, friendliness, cleanliness, ambiance and prices were so good. Watch out for the ponchas digestif, it is strong. The house white is excellent.

We tried this restaurant on the first day of our week long holiday to Madeira. The food was flambéd in front of us and it was good to watch! We chose to have garlic bread too, Maderian style which was delicious. The waiters were really friendly and the food plentiful and tasty. We will return before the week is over... More

This is an excellent example of a Madeiran restaurant. Both meat and fish are to be recommended, especially the chef's special duck, and the mixed fish grill. Their fruit flambe is a desert to die for. Good, reasonably priced wine list. Excellent, friendly service. Superb value for the quality of food and wine. We ate there twice and will certainly... We stayed at the Eden Mar suite hotel across the road from this restaurant. We were enticed in with a 10% discount voucher and it was well worth it. The restaurant was spotlessly clean, well set out with space between the tables so you weren't sat on top of each other. The food was excellent. I had the house speciality,... More

This restaurant is popular with the Portuguese, which is generally a good sign. We found the food to be excellent. I recommend the fish soup or the mussels for starters, and the fillet steak for main course. Extremely generous portions! Their speciality is flambe which was entertaining to watch.
