Very good bar selling German Beer and reasonable priced food. A bit noisy when I went Oct 2013 due to Harbour work. Will pop in there when I stop on cruise in December. But will be back to Madeira in Feb 2015. When I expect to make a few visits Dave M

Initially visited this place just to try their beer. They brew the beer themselves to a German recipe. I have to say that the beer was great. A wheat beer, very cloudy but also tasty. I think it was also quite strong as I had to go back to my hotel fro a sleep afterwards. While we were there we... More

That's the one to eat for sure - good value, good fun and a good place to chill and watch the world go by! Friendly staff, and one of the better places to stop for some lunch.

A visitor to the Beerhouse will never starve! The portions are very generous indeed. We had a very pleasant evening, wooed into the place by a cheery man in lederhosen, and whilst dining were able to view some men treading grapes in a large square barrel - it was during a wine festival time. A very nourishing and entertaining evening.

Being a beer afficionado, what I drink to a good meal matters a lot. Most places on the island only serve the regular lager (Coral), in some special spots you may be lucky to find a mass produced imported ale, such as Guinness or Kilkenny. Eventually, I grow tired of that and this is where Madeira Beerhouse makes a huge... More

We were in desperate need of a good beer, which we gratefully found at the Beerhouse. Conveniently located at the marina. The food is a little pricey, but we found that one rice dish fed two people. Next time we'll have to get the metre of beer...

We chose the restaurant based on our tour guide. If it once used to be good, we had a different experience. Coming by the restaurant we were welcomed by some tourist catchers who try to lure tourists into the various restaurants at the marina. There are really nice and local places to go for dinner, this one Calls out 'tourist... More

Stopped here for lunch and to sample their own brewed beer. Food is lovely, their tomato and onion soup with poached egg was the best we had in Funchal, and the beer though cloudy due to being unfiltered is pleasant to try. The only thing letting this venue down at present is the ongoing harbour redevelopment with building work going... More

While the sea front is being rebuilt, this restaurant suffers from the ongoing building works, but its harbour location still gives great views. The house beers (described as cloudy and less fizzy than lager) was a sweet nutty ale with great flavour. We could not do justice to the food which was good quality and high volume. Sir had the... We wanted to like this place, we really did. We're beer aficionados, we like trying new beers whenever we can. Local beers, preferably by micro-breweries. So when we learned about the Beerhouse in Funchal, we just had to pay it a visit. Previous reviews mentioned at least two kinds of beer, and we were planning to taste them all. We... More
