Tired restaurant with bored looking woman waitress and old man at bar/fridge who just grumbled. Took 20 mins to get glass of warm white wine (from cupboard) and 45 to get starters, at most there were eight covers being served. Food was actually OK when it came but the remainder of the experience was not. This place may well be... More

Great food visited more than once during our stay. Good choice of fish and special fish of the day. Good, professional service. have no hesitation in recommending and would certainly visit again. It was great to have so much advice/recommendations for each of us and guidance through the menu, specials and local wines

Food atmosphere and price were all of an average persuasion. Vegetables overcooked and wine menu all in Portuguese. Staff were friendly. The whole experience was tired, like the sparkle had gone from what could have been a extremely great restaurant.

Being a local guy my expectations were quite high. We started with grilled lapas (clams) and some tomato soup and they were tasty. Then we had what they called "picadinho" and I was disappointed, the meat was not that soft and came with very big pieces and the potatoes were cold. But what was really frustrating was the price we... More

The food in this place was reasonable but the service really let them down. When I asked the waitress to recommend as local wine she put me off and said the wine fro Madeira was perhaps not at good as the rest of Portuguals as the region was relatively new to the wine trade. I also feel that the menu... More

The restaurant is in a pedestrian street full of eating-places in Funchal's old town. Since staying in the center of Funchal I ended up having dinner here on several evenings. I was never disappointed and tried all their local specialities like espetada em pau de loro (chunks of beef on bay leaf sticks), which gets served here in an original... More

Meal very average. Had much better in Funchal and at a better price. Evening was capped off by the waitress saying that their card machine wasn't working. "Bit late to tell me now". I paid the €60 in cash and won't bother finding them again. Peter & Heather

We sat inside very quiet as early evening. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Great service we would go back and definitely recommend.

Not an easy place to find as not on the front of the old town area but venture one street back and you will find this restaurant. It is well worth a visit if warm you can sit outside or otherwise the inside is very nice and cosy. The menu is different to other restaurants and well cooked.

Had a lovely meal and evening at this excellent old town restaurant. The food was fabulous, really seemed like excellent Madeiran home cooking . Lovely staff and service and very reasonably priced too.
