Well served local dishes

Yes, this is a touristic lane and there are waiters waving you into their shop. This one offers a wide selection of the local dishes, and the waiters take time to explain if you are willing to listen. The octopus was well cooked, and the scabbard well served with passion fruit sauce and the typical... read more

By chance we found this resturant. The cooking was unusual, fresh, and delicious. My partner has chicken in garlic for starter- we had both never tasted chicken like it and it turned out to be marinated in a mixture of 8 herbs , one of which was a black berry with an anise like flavour( yes I bit into it!).... We booked a table here because of the fado but were a bit apprehensive after reading some of the reviews of the restaurant. We needn't have worried. The music was memorable. An excellent evening in every way. The goat stew was excellent as was my wife's espetada.

This nice restaurant is in a pedestrian street of the center. The staff is kind and the food is well cooked, in particular piripri chicken and the octopus

Having just arrived in Funchal we tried to walk through this beautiful old part of town. A narrow street near the water. Many restaurants there! Impossible to walk through, let alone stop or hesitate to glance at menus, without getting hassled by waiters to stop and eat at their particular restaurant. Tired, hungry and thirsty we quickly gave in at... More

I'm very sorry to hear that.. Can you send me a private email describing the employe who "laughed off" ? If the costumer wasnt satisfied, it was his job to make it a better experience! Again, very sorry.. More

Having read a few disappointing reviews have to say that my experience was very different. We popped in for a late light lunch where we ordered salads and wine and all four of us were impressed with the freshness of the salads which was nicely presented and delicious. The service was courteous and efficient and we had no complaints about... More

The place give an impression of being an exclusive local restaurant regarding prices. It looks cosy but it is only the looks. The food is very ordinary. Twice they tried to charge us for food we didn't order. We payed 69 euros for two starters and four main dishes. A terrible waste of money.

Took this place to have a family dinner on our last night in Madeira. Child's spaghetti bolonese was warmed up. Slightly warm.. My husbands fish of his choice (not sure if that was exactly that fish that he ordered) was also reheated in the microwave and waiter didnt deny it. Though did agree it shouldn't have been like that..Worst place... More

We had dinner here once, and the food was realy good. I must say a bit better than most other restaurants in old Funchal. We had some lokal dishes, which were tasty and perfect made. The staff are helpfull and kind. Prices are a little bit above average, but so are the food!
