Lovely resaurant

We have visited this restaurant on previous visits to Madiera and have always enjoyed it. When we came back to Funchal we ate here twice and found it as good as ever. Lovely food, great staff. To be greatly recommended.

We have travelled to Madeira for over 10 years, as a now 50 – 60’s couple, and have decided to document this years restaurant visits. Dining took place either late afternoon or early evening spread across a variety of establishments with bills costing between €33 and €83. Each visit included a bottle of wine, large still water and coffee. Situated... More

Lovely and clean - glassware and cutlery gleaming so obviously have staff who care from the owner downwards, service very good - attentive but not pushy and the food was excellent. We were looking for a specific wine we had had at another restaurant which they don't stock and we were recommended a .com red wine which was very reasonably... More

Pleasantly surprised. Not much 2 look at, not posh tablecloths or chairs, but quality of food exceptional & reasonably priced. Hunt it out!

We loved this place so much we came back for a second visit. The food is excellent- the steak on the stone is amazing and really good value (go for the smaller cut, it's more than enough). Service is excellent too. Lovely atmosphere on a warm evening in the old town. Overall a great find and definitely recommended for a... More

We took a stroll in the old town of Funchal in order to feel the atmosphere and find a nice place to dine. As many restaurants are scattered around the small streets, where symphatique waiters try to lure the bypassers, we finally were recommended with Xarambinha. The restaurants is, like most of the others, quite big and located in the... More

This restaurant is in the old town area directly opposite the oldest church in Funchal. We discovered Xarambinha on our second visit to Madeira, whilst dutifully spreading our custom around the various eateries near our hotel. What a gem of a place! The staff were friendly without being pushy and didn't tout for business as is usual in this area.... More
