Again we enjoyed excellent meals at this restaurant which is opposite the Melia Madeira Mare Hotel. Good staff interaction and extensive menu. Wide choice of reasonably priced wines. Did need to wait for a little while before our order was taken but the restaurant was very busy and at least we had been given the usual bread, olives and our... More

My family and I Passed this restaurant every night and decided to give it a try, following convincing patter from staff member on the street. Once seated, we found the staff to be quite pushy (though no match for a strong willed scot!). We placed orders for main courses only as we were not too hungry. They did try to... More

Every meal we've had here has been delicious. All home cooked food, served by very friendly staff. Great fish dishes, and accommodating enough to even prepare a paella, if given enough notice, and which isn't even on the regular menu!!

Well don't really know what to say. . I went for a meal with my mother, the ratings on here seemed very good. However, we were both very disappointed. My mother had a flavourless sea bass and I had a half cooked parrot fish smothered and i believe trying to swim to freedom in a garlic butter sea. ... We... More

1st time visit and service ok to begin with but then got busy and we were not attended to. Meal a mixed bag, we had the BBQ and found positions a little lacking in quantity and taste. Maybe we made the wrong choice on the menu . The desert of Strawberry cheese cake I can say it tasted of plastic... More

Loved this restaurant last time we stayed at the Promenade and enjoyed it just as much this time. The food is really good and the wine choice is huge with it being a wine store as well and being keen on my wines but not knowing a lot about Portugese wines I found their recommendations really helpful. If you are... More

We had octopus Portuguese way, with a lot of olive oil and potatoes... unfortunately they don't understand absolutely nothing about food-paring, the red wine from the Douro was a disastrous recommendation. They did not have any table wine from Madeira, what is a shame ... Any way the service was OK but the location is a bit noisy, with all... More

We stayed at The Melia Madeira Mare and this restaurant was just across the road. During our five day stay we ate here once at lunch and twice for dinner. There was four in our party and all four had lovely meals every time. The staff were very friendly and upon our return to Funchal will come back again to... More

Staying at melia across the road and the contrast in service couldn't be more stark. The staff here couldn't be more attentive and fun ! Sure they are trying to sell but they do it well. The restaurant doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't. Food is ok as is price. Wine was very good. We paid 80 euros for... More
