My wife does not eat meat, but will have fish, so 2 nights she had red snapper, I will eat most things, the food here is good & has proper chips, Madeira generally does not really cater for veggies.

And even the staff have not changed. OK, we enjoyed great service, wonderful food and wine at 13E per bottle. On a fairly busy road is the only down side but you are sitting away from it.

A little further along the road from the Goya is the PVP-Pao Vinho e Petiscos where the food is very tasty and reasonably priced. It is a little more rustic than the Goya, but very clean and welcoming. The staff are friendly and attentive and we had a really nice time there with friends. I think the bill for four... More

very reasonably priced menu. I had tuna and you got 2 decent sized pieces and it was beautifully cooked. My daughter also had fish and she says it was one of her favourite meals of the holiday. the staff were very good and keen to please. An appetizer was kind of forced on us, so just beware when they come... More

Six of us went out to dinner with no particular place in mind. We were actively encouraged to enter several restaurants along this street, but couldn't resist this one when they said they could do liver Madeiran style for me, even though it wasn't on the menu. It didn't disappoint either. The fillet steak as well was excellent according to... More

Again we enjoyed excellent meals at this restaurant which is opposite the Melia Madeira Mare Hotel. Good staff interaction and extensive menu. Wide choice of reasonably priced wines. Did need to wait for a little while before our order was taken but the restaurant was very busy and at least we had been given the usual bread, olives and our... More

My family and I Passed this restaurant every night and decided to give it a try, following convincing patter from staff member on the street. Once seated, we found the staff to be quite pushy (though no match for a strong willed scot!). We placed orders for main courses only as we were not too hungry. They did try to... More

Every meal we've had here has been delicious. All home cooked food, served by very friendly staff. Great fish dishes, and accommodating enough to even prepare a paella, if given enough notice, and which isn't even on the regular menu!!
