Loved this restaurant last time we stayed at the Promenade and enjoyed it just as much this time. The food is really good and the wine choice is huge with it being a wine store as well and being keen on my wines but not knowing a lot about Portugese wines I found their recommendations really helpful. If you are... More

We had octopus Portuguese way, with a lot of olive oil and potatoes... unfortunately they don't understand absolutely nothing about food-paring, the red wine from the Douro was a disastrous recommendation. They did not have any table wine from Madeira, what is a shame ... Any way the service was OK but the location is a bit noisy, with all... More

We stayed at The Melia Madeira Mare and this restaurant was just across the road. During our five day stay we ate here once at lunch and twice for dinner. There was four in our party and all four had lovely meals every time. The staff were very friendly and upon our return to Funchal will come back again to... More

Staying at melia across the road and the contrast in service couldn't be more stark. The staff here couldn't be more attentive and fun ! Sure they are trying to sell but they do it well. The restaurant doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't. Food is ok as is price. Wine was very good. We paid 80 euros for... More

Delicious food for two people we paid 50€ but it was worth of this. Osctopus and Parot fish were just delicious, and a wine which waiter proposed just haeven.

The service here was chaotic to say the least. It all felt all rather manic, and not a peaceful dining experience. The food was perfectly acceptable - great chips, but everything else just a bit mediocre. It did the job, but given a lot of rave reviews here, was slightly disappointing.

I did a review in December and I was pleased to say that the waiter who stunk of cigarettes was not on when we visited this time. My husband had the steak with Bernadine sauce, which came with sautes with pieces of ham, vegetables, I had the risotto with croaker fish and coriander. With two soft drinks the vill was... More

We have been visiting the PVP - Portuguese restaurant, next to the SPAR shop, each year for the last five years. The restaurant is only a few minutes walk from our timeshare in the Promenade Hotel. The restaurant is extremely popular and now seemingly attracts more hotel guests than locals, who still frequent in significant numbers. The restaurant offers meals... More

Have been going to this restaurant for a few years now and have always found the staff extremely friendly and helpful. Food is basic Madeiran cuisine but is always good and tasty. Wines are good and not too expensive. Would certainly recommend.
