Hidden gem, best meal in Madeira

We happened upon this traditional and superb restaurant quite by accident and it was our best experience of our holiday. So much so we went twice after we had discovered it. The restaurant grew apparently from being a wine and spirit sales firm, and as a result, they only serve the wine they sell... read more

We stayed at the Melia Madeira Mare hotel opposite and chose Petiscos on our first night. The sea bass was the best I had ever tasted and overall we had a lovely meal in great surroundings. We returned the next night and were eqaully impressed. We then thought we should try somewhere else and that led us us to return... More

The outside of this place is a little uninspiring but the inside is authentic and welcoming. We were on a 7 night stay in one of the big hotels nearby. We ate one night in the hotel and 6 in this restaurant. Lovely fresh fish (the sea bass was excellent) friendly service, good wine and reasonably priced. It suited us... More

If you are looking for a place to enjoy your food while away from home pop into this restaurant. The big test is when you return for your second meal. And we never had a meal that was poor!

Many of the restaurants in Madeira have very similar menus. This restaurant stands out by having a different and more extensive range of dishes. We have eaten here many times over the last five years and found the quality and friendly service a joy.

We called in for a late lunch and the place was not at all brush. Our friend enjoys his wine therefore we first visited the attached wine shop to choose a bottle to have with our meal,a good selection of Portugese wines. He further recommended the Catapana which was superb, my Wife is not a big eater so chose one... More

Set on the main road behind the Enotel Lido hotel this restaurant is a reasonable option from our one visit. In particular I enjoyed my best steak of the entire visit to Madeira which was juicy tender and well prepared. My wife's chicken cooked in a sauce was also very enjoyable. The decor is quite traditional with a whole wall... More

Great restaurant, excellent food and service, good atmosphere. Interesting range of drink bottles decorate the walls. Would certainly recommend.

My husband and I were early diners and the restaurant was very quiet. The waiter (Orlando) brought a plate of cold meat and cheese which we declined on being told there was a charge for it. The bread selection provided (also chargeable) was delicious (one was made with sweet potato). The staff were very friendly but Orlando was particularly helpful,... More

We were recommended to visit this restaurant by a friend and we were not disappointed. The food was well cooked, the service was good and the house wine excellent.
