Excellent food, beautifully presented. Since we visited twice last year they have introduced a €20 option for 3 courses (or €26.50 including a bottle of wine and water) which proved very good value. The chocolate fondue dessert is a great favourite of ours.

We had a lovely evening at L'Osteria last night. Good food, good value, well presented and nice wine. I enjoyed every course, the smoked salmon starter, the Spagetti Carbonara, followed by crepes. We would definitely go again.

Have just visited this restaurant as we do on all our visits to Funchal. I don't know why it isn't higher up the rankings as it is difficult to beat. The ambience is just right, the food is very well presented, tasty, fresh, value for money. The staff are welcoming and very friendly. The three courses from the a' la... More

Firstly, I think my average marking may have been influenced by a distinct degree of being 'underwhelmed' and going by some of the gushing TA reviews it must surely have been an off day for this establishment. This was our first visit to the L'Osteria and I've been wanting to go there having seen the good reviews. Don't get me... More

Not very busy but attentive waiter. Chose 3 course menu as always start with soup. Main course had espada which was pleasant although not over big. Veges ok and not over cooked and was asked if I required more. Suite choice reasonable and wine average priced. Would go again

We had the 3Dish menu and for the modest price I have to say it was good. We both like our diffrent starters (I had the salmon). We tried both meat and fish for main and it was good but not super impressive. The desert was also better then just okey. I liked my mixed fruit sallad and the panacotta... More

Intended going here earlier in the week but it appeared crowded so went elsewhere. Went firstly on a Friday and I had Calamari for starters while my wife had shrimps. Both were excellent and I had a Rose which although not what I wanted to order was almost as good. My wife had duck while I had chicken for main... More

Visited last night following several recommendations. Can't understand why we haven't been before. Run by the people who used to have Quinta Palmeira near the old Savoy and still with the same chef. Thoroughly enjoyed their 3courses from the a la carte menu for 26.50 euros which included wine and water although there was a supplement for the more expensive... More

Our late booking of this well rated restaurant was worth a visit. The staff welcoming and attentive. A menu in four languages took some deciphering comprised an interesting range of dishes. The wine selection was short but some good wines on offer at reasonable prices. We choose calamari and smoked duck which were tasty and well presented. Although the calamari... More

We ate here twice , each time felt like a treat. We had beautifully presented food, served with style. There was a varied menu with plenty of choice and the poncha (drink) and the sweetmeat at the end were delightful touches.
