Regular Portuguese Tourist Food

First night in Funchal and first restaurant we stumbled across. On one of the main roads, so outdoor seating but noisy. Average food and average prices. Nothing amazing, some 'interesting' live music, but does the job.

We had dinner here during a holiday in Madeira and we were glad we did. It was a great taste of local fayre served in a great atmosphere. We sat outside as it was a warm evening and it was such a private area considering the location in the centre of town. The menu suited all tastes with meat, fish,... More

This is the worst restaurant we have ever been to.The manager / owner is the most distasteful man we have ever met.He seems to enjoy insulting people and even got his waiter to interpret and pass on insults. The fish on display was smelling and I would doubt that it would be fresh enough to eat. Keep away unless you... More

I had a dinner of fish and wine there but unfortunately fish was rubbery, wine substandard, potatoes old, and price too high. Unless the place improves substantially no point in visiting.

Very good food and fun atmosphere. Also nice fado music. Recommend the espada (fish). Ate here two times on my trip, really like the place.

This establishment seems to be run by old men who should have retired long ago.The food is the worst we have ever experienced anywhere.the roast suckling pig in pastry starter was the worst sausage roll we have ever tasted! We ordered sole with a vegetable side which was overcooked soggy and only fit to be served to pigs! Most expensive... More

Reasonable evening meal. Had a couple of glasses of house white. It was rather strange and seemed to be scented. Starters came fairly quick but after that we waited and waited. The waiters were scurrying around but not really bringing out much food. There was a wedding party going on in the next door museum and mini cabs and cars... More

This restuarant is situated near the market and it has a certain old world charm. There is outside seating, around an old fountain, but it is adjacent to a main road, so expect noise and some fumes. We had a lunch of Suckling Pig sandwiches and a side order of salad, which was all very tasty. The staff, whilst not... More

Situated on edge of old town. Outside seating around Eldest fountain, We had cheese sandwiches beer and wine and a piece of apple pie. Very good food and drinks. A team of professional waiter giving good service. The Trip Advisor sticker proudly displayed on the window. Well worth a visit.
