In the weeks holiday that we had in Funchal, we ate at Il Basilico three times, which shows how good the food was. The menu is varied, the food well cooked, and arrives at your table piping hot. The fish is excellent, and we can highly recommend the Sea Bass. Service is discrete but professional. The house wine excellent. Over... More

We eat here every time we stay at the Porto Bay hotels. Very busy in the evenings - need to book even in low season. Choice is excellent and very reasonable prices. They update the menu regularly, introducing new dishes while resting others. Classic Italian dishes always available. Service is friendly and competent and you don't wait ages for your... More

Fancied a lighter evening meal and came here. One of the best pastas I have ever had and while slightly pricey not out of the box. My wife who is not easily impressed by food was also really happy with the quality.

Ate here a couple of times during our week in Madeira. Beautiful restaurant, attentive staff and great food. Good value and generous toppings on pizzas. Advisable to book in advance.

Once again Il Basilico is on our 'Favourites' list of places to eat in Funchal. It's always our 'first night' restaurant here. This year the restaurant has been extended to include more tables both inside and outside. Well worth a visit - never disappoints us.

We only had a quick pizza before leaving for the airport, but we thoroughly enjoyed it and especially the seafront position in the sunshine.

We had a pizza lunch one day and they were excellent in taste and value for the money. We decided to reserve a table for the dinner too. The dinner list looked promising, all classic Italian food and we went for antipasti, primi piatti, secondi piatti- all in! Antipasti CALAMARI FRITTI - excellent PARMIGIANA DI MELANZANE - excellent, excellent! Primi:... More
