Good food, friendly staff

Weave been coming here for the last four years and while the restaurant has changed hands in that time, the kitchen staff,we were told, are the same. Situated directly outside the entrance doors to Museu de Arte Sagra, our party of four visited Cafe do Museu several times, once just for a refreshing drink, the second for lunch. Service is friendly and prompt and lunches are excellent both in quantity and value. We opted for half portions of vegetable lasagne which came with mixed fresh salad and... More

Passed by earlier in the day and decided to come back for lunch. It was not a good idea. My wife had the cod, but it was very salty, no doubt salt-dried cod, and very tough. To my taste, it was far from fresh, and I immediately felt nauseous on tasting a small piece. I have eaten salt cod in... More

friendly staff and good food nicely presented. Typical main dish 10 - 15 euros. Quite busy at lunchtime. Adjoining sacred art museum is worth visiting

We have visited this cafe on many occasions over many years of visiting Madeira and we have never been disappointed. The coffee, and especially the chocolate cake, is a 'must' for us and for all the members of our family. The cafe is favoured by the locals, and a visit to this location is not to be missed. It is... Worth seeking out., this cafe/restaurant is very easy to overlook and walk by. The food is fresh and is not 'messed about' with sauces or decoration. What you receive is exactly as the menu describes. If in any doubt the well informed staff can explain the dish before you order. Daily specials, as well as the menu dishes present excellent... Ever since we have been visiting Madeira this out of the way little restaurant is always on our list of places to visit. This year the menu is quite different and as always did not disappoint. On our two visits to date we have selected different soups and in each instance they did not disappoint. We have tried risotto, penne... More

I would like to be giving this place a better than average rating but our visit was marred by the food being presented lukewarm at best (insufficient microwave time!) and returned after reheating. Also regrettably, one main was not as described on the menu; roast cod with a pesto and shrimp topping failed by not being 'pesto' at all but... More

Set just at the entrance to the museum in Funchal,, almost unseen from the square. Lovely staff, Jenifer was great . Quick service. 10 euro menu just the job. A great find in Funchal.

We visited this cafe twice and on both occasions the food was very good, but the experience was spoiled by poor service, particularly on our second visit. We sat at a table for 20 minutes before the waiter noticed us - there were only people at 3 other tables, so they weren't exactly rushed off their feet. It took another... More
