We visited this restaurant after a recommendation from one of our Levada walking guides (Madeira Explorers) who supplies branches of the sweet bay plant for skewers giving their Espatada the traditional herb tasted meat cooked slowly over a wood fire. The owner and staff very very welcoming especially after informing them the reason of our visit. (This also produced a... More

This restaurant is just great! Friendly staff and really good food. Steak on stone is delicious, and so is the espetada.

Went here in late September. Not much to look at but the staff were friendly and the steaks are amazing. Steak on a stone was unbelievably good and a genuine surprise. You wear a bib, cut it up and cook it to your liking on the stone. Really nice piece of meat, go easy on the garlic sauce though it's... More

The food are splendid and the service are professional. Food; in my case espetada on a real laurel skewer and on a previous occation; spaghetti was very nice prepared and served. The service are done with the customer in eye. The only thing which makes the total experience a little less than perfect are that the prices are generally adjusted... More

This is the second year we have eaten at this restaurant and were recommended to go for the local espetada cooked on bay sticks. Neither time have we been disappointed - the meat is tasty and tender. Drinks are above average price and overall the meal price is not the cheapest. The staff are very friendly. The location, an outdoor... More

This was a very good place to stop if you are in the area. Situated next to the Dorisol hotels, La Bamba offers you typical Italian specialties. A lot of tables are placed on the outside, so you have the beautiful street views. Food is well prepared and served within a reasonable time (about 20 minutes after order). Friendly staff,... More

My father in law was befriended by a well suited and courteous appearing gentlemen in a bar approximately 20 minutes walk from this restaurant. He made polite general conversation and asked where my father in law had eaten within Funchal. Later during the conversation he suggested my father in law go to his restaurant and he would would give him... More
