Four of us visited this restaurant to decide for ourselves the opinion ( big variations of review ) The welcome was genuine and the menu swiftly arrived. The first course arrived after 30mins and was good, as was the house red wine we chose. Waiting would not have been an issue if we had not been a bit chilly and... More

This restaurant is well rated so we decided to eat there one evening during our week in Funchal. We were there out of season in early January so the restaurant was quiet but nevertheless the food was good, I started with the melon and Parma ham which was very refreshing, my husband had rolled smoked salmon and cheese, these delicious... After a hard time trying to find the restaurant , by car due to all the one way roads, we arrived finally very hungry, just 5 min. after they had opened. It was a little bit chilly and the waiter was not really interested in us. So the whole ambience just got even more colder. I ate sardines, a nightmare... More

This restaurant offers both a meat/fish menu and a separate vegetarian menu (which you have to ask for). We have struggled to find good quality veggie food on Medeira but this was fantastic food. There was a choice of 3 main dishes, the two we chose (ricotta and spinach tortellini and brie filo pastry) were really delicious. Even better were... More

I met a fellow online patron through Trip advisor who left a review last New years eve. I decided to take a chance and book our dinner through this lady and she ensured we were booked. Through their facebook page it was confirmed. it was 80 euros each. Before paying our deposit of 80 euros for us both, we decided... More

Fantastic vegetarian Christmas dinner. Many courses, plenty of wine. Our first experience of Madeira and we will definitely return to this restaurant on future visits.

Really good food, well presented, and care taken over it. If you want a quick meal don't go here. If you want something thoughtfully presented, and very freshly prepared, if you like your food, then go. The dishes take a while to be served and it's clear it's because they are individually and freshly prepared. It was a nice touch... More

We visited Olive's for the third time on New Year's Eve and it was superb as ever. Plenty of booze, lovely food and a bus to take us to see the fireworks from a vantage point over Funchal. The atmosphere was great...plenty of fun and laughter. Brilliant New Year's Eve.

We booked Olive's nearly a year ago as our place of choice for this year's New Year celebrations and had a marvellous evening. We were greeted with a glass of bubbly and a very warm welcome. The food was splendid as usual and the wine kept on coming. Party hats, hooters, poppers, sprinkles, crackers, fantastic hosts all added to the... More

We found this restaurant on Tripadvisor. It is situated among the main hotels to the west of the centre beyond Reid's. On the night we went, we were the only customers which detracted from the ambience. The decor is modern and is run by 2 brothers, one of whom is front of house and the other is the chef. The...
