After reading so many good reviews I thought there was a gem just next door to our holiday home that I had not seen. Just to make my comments short because our eating experience was not as good other reviewers on this web site. The large white plates and pretty food set a standard that was not matched by everything... More

We called in Olives just for a quick snack and opted to have the Spinach and Sweet Potato soup, although the rest of the menu was very tempting. I wish we'd had a longer stay in Funchal so we could go back here because as a vegetarian it was difficult to find much for me in the other restaurants. Here... More

Every meal we have had has been faultless in quality presentation and at a very realistic cost. The house wine is excellent at a realistic price.

This was definitely the best dinner we had on our trip. The food was perfectly prepared, the taste was excellent, the views on the Atlantic ocean fantastic. As starter we took the grilled king prawns with garlic which has the quality and taste which could easily compete with similar dishes in a star restaurant. As main dish we had the... More

We have known this restaurant for several years, since they were in Old Town Funchal. They have sinced moved to the Lido area and have created a wonderful low key ambince with a view out over the ocean, and food which nears Michelin quality. All at a price that is very low for value received. We took some friends here... More

Olives goes from strength to strength. Food as delicous and well presented as in any of the top London restaurants yet it is ridicuously inexpensive. Highly recommended.

We ate at Olives twice during our holiday in July - we only discovered it towards the end of our holiday, by a personal recommendation. Best meal we had in Funchal and we agree with all the excellent comments. It will certainly be on our favourite places to eat when we return in March.

We ate at Olives in August 2014 and every aspect of our meal was truly excellent. We had previously attempted to visit Olives but directions on Google Maps took us to what was their previous location. As a tip, search for the location using the address rather than searching for the restaurant's name. Nonetheless, we endeavoured to make the trip... More

We visited this restaurant following the reviews of trip advisor. We were not disappointed with the food, service and choice. However unfortunately for us we had to endure a loud and opinionated table close by to us which totally spoilt the atmosphere. The menu was simple but brilliantly executed. I started with the chefs recommendation of paw paw fruit risotto,... More
