Description: The Armazem do Sal Restaurant is located in an old building, which has a history that dates over two hundred Years. In its inception it served to store salt, then a commodity, for Madeira's population. This imposing structure made of basalt flagstones and massive wooden beams takes you to quite a distant past. The Armazem do Sal Restaurant offers a traditional menu with a modern twist, with a variety of items prepared by our young Chef Roberto Barros and his team. Made a return visit this year to this restaurant (19/8) Whether we were unlucky on this occasion but service was mediocre at best, with staff forgetting to bring requested items and getting order mixed up. There seems to be a very complacent attitude descending. Quality of food was good but we thought that the portion size has been reduced (the... More

A very good restaurant with a special atmosphere. The food is always brilliant and delicious with very high quality, the presentation is delightful, the staff is very professional and attentive. In addition to all the above, they usually have very good live music creating a even special environment. This is a highly recommended restaurant when visiting Madeira and in my... More

Not easy to find, but PLEASE make the effort, it's well worth the reward. Value for money EXCELLENT! Service EXCELLENT! Quality of food EXCELLENT! We dined in a Michelin 1 star restaurant 2 nights before that wasn't a patch on this. Great food, service and ambiance - a MUST to visit - you won't be disappointed !!

Visited Armazem do Sal twice in the week when we were in Madeira and on both occasions opted for the wine match menu. This was outstanding quality and value for 39 euros. Been coming to Madeira for several years, and always head to this place. Its a very difficult place to find, set back in a side street, but its well worth finding. They do a fantastic special offer of 5 course meal, and unlimited wine for 39 euro's, and the food is excellent! The staff are really friendly, and every time... More

We didn't book but as it was early we managed to get a table. Within half an hour of us sitting down, the restaurant was completely full. We went for the 39 euro menu and each course was better than the previous one. The wine changed for each course and for the main course our wine glass was refilled. Excellent... More

Like many, we opted for the 39 euro set menu with wine pairings. We had the tuna and prawns to start, followed by octopus and scabbard fish, ending with creme brulee and chocolate fondant. The wine pairings matched well and our glasses were regularly filled. We sat outside and there was a good atmosphere. The staff were attentive and talked... More

If I could have given this restaurant any more stars I would have done! I might have had a better meal some time in the last 2 or 3 years, but If I have, I have forgotten it, and I won't forget this meal for a long time. It is in a nice location on the edge of the old... More
