Description: The Armazem do Sal Restaurant is located in an old building, which has a history that dates over two hundred Years. In its inception it served to store salt, then a commodity, for Madeira's population. This imposing structure made of basalt flagstones and massive wooden beams takes you to quite a distant past. The Armazem do Sal Restaurant offers a traditional menu with a modern twist, with a variety of items prepared by our young Chef Roberto Barros and his team. All of this is enjoyed with carefully selected wines, an exquisite service and live music daily for a memorable experience. This is a fantastic restaurant. The menu with wines included is very good. Every dish is carefully balanced with good matching wines. Foie gras with chocolate is an amazing starter And the rack of lamb was excellent. Staff are great and the price is very reasonable.

Set menu is a misleading term here. What they really mean is that you can choose any starter, main and desert from the ordinary main for 30 euros. you also get a sparkling wine to start and a coffee. for a further 9 euros you also get a glass of wine with each course based on what you have each... After being recommended to this restaurant a few years ago, this year we decided to go. Well we are now cursing that we havent been before and will definately return in coming years. The staff were attentive. The food choices devine and plentiful. The atmosphere was welcoming .

Beautiful food and also does the 39 euro menu, great value. Location is an old salt warehouse so no views but quite beautiful in its own right. Book to avoid disappointment.

We dine here twice a year and have always had a wonderful evening. We were flying in the day before so e-mailed to reserve for our party of 5 for the Saturday. It was my 80th birthday and the staff made it so special .

We were very lucky to get a table at this restaurant on a Saturday and opted for the set menu with accompanying wines. The food was superb and the wines matched the food very well. They were very busy so service was not of the fastest but we were in no hurry so it suited us very well. The guitarist... More

Visited on a Monday at 7.30 - the place was full with few eating so was at the end of the order queue. It took an hour to obtain first course and they seemed short staffed. The rest of the meal was very good in all respects with an excellent live Brazilian guitarist. Gave them feedback and returned two days... More
