Best Restaurant on Madeira

Once again this restaurant proves to be well worth a visit. Superb setting in old salt cellars but very roomy and well ventilated. The food is second to none, could not fault anything from our recent visit to celebrate my birthday. Well worth more than one visit if you enjoy quality food and wine.

As we wanted a smaller meal we selected from the Al la carte rather than the set menu which looked excellent and appeared to be very good value with all in food and wine. The food was excellent. The service was very professional and business like. Personally I am well capable of topping up my own wine and dislike it... More

We had lunch here a lot and enjoyed the excellent but very reasonable plate of the day. The service is excellent and the food delicious. It has a lovely laid back atmosphere but the food is of a high standard. Highly recommended!

Best food in town. Immaculate presentation but you must book to be sure of a table in the main restaurant. We reluctantly took a table in the upstairs room where the ambiance was somewhat depressing which really spoiled the experience. We will return however as we know how good this restaurant really is.

just happened to walk by, looking for a restaurant and called in to enquire. Very nice restaurant manager fixed us up with a nice table despite no booking. Good service, good wine and exceptional food at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended, but couldn't get in again as they were always fully booked. My advice...book on-line and go!

You do need to book ahead , even though it was mid week others arriving were turned away . The choice of menu was not vast but the quality of the food we had was excellent . Especially the presentation ...almost looked to good to eat . Wine was also sold by the glass so it was a nice option... More

We visited this restaurant on the 21st May, our final evening in Madeira. Fair to say all the restaurants we had visited provided food of the highest standard you could wish for. However this restaurant was in a league of its own. We had the a la carte with accompanying wines and it was to die for. The presentation, attention... More

We got one of the last tables at 6.30pm- many after us were turned away. You have to book! We went for the Extra Value Menu, with no matching wines. The very courteous and friendly waiters immediately served Sparkling wine and med sweet Madeira. Great start and it just got better ( till the last part). My wife had Foie... More

Hidden away amongst the narrow streets this is one of the best in Funchal. As you approach it feels inviting and we were not disappointed by the warm and friendly staff, I love the conversion from its humble beginnings. We opted for the fixed price menu with wine as we liked the format from Mozart's Goya etc. From the starters... More
