A traditional country pub, in a idyllic surrounding. Set in the peaceful village of Chacombe, the George and Dragon is only 1 mile from junction 11 of the M40. The George and dragon is the perfect place for all occasions, whether it be for entertaining corporate lunches during the day, cosy dinners, family get togethers or a drink with your friends. The pub dates back to the 17th century and still has original beams and fire places. During an extension 20 years ago a hidden well was discovered, which has long become a big attraction of the pub, along with the unique brass bar. There is a large patio area which can seat up to 40 people during the long and thirsty summer months.

Great spot for lunch near M40

I can highly recommend this pub. It a short drive from the M40, in a small country hamlet. Parking is available behind the pub. There's a small beer garden which gets plenty of sunshine. Food is excellent, I had Scampi which was served with home cooked chips and a fresh salad. Friends had two of... read more

Went to this pub on Sunday, a Fathers day treat, what a disappointment. Our booking was for late afternoon so maybe that didn't help. The food was cold, the beef was the worst beef I have ever eaten, insipid to look at and no flavour, one roast potato? My husband had the burger instead of a roast, which was not... More

Thank you very much for your review. We're very disappointed you had such a bad experience when visiting us. I personally over saw the kitchen pass on fathers day, and I have no recollection of a roast dinner leaving the kitchen without 3 roast potatoes on the plate. I'm really sorry that you didn't enjoy the beef. We pride our... More

We asked some friends to recommend somewhere to stop for lunch while we were travelling back to Surrey from Yorkshire. The sent a text saying the George and Dragon in Chacombe. Just 3 miles off the M40 it’s far enough from the noise but not too far to become a serious detour. We nearly drove past it as it does... More

After an 8 mile country walk this was the perfect place to stop for a pint of real ale and a bite to eat. It's a bit posh fora Country pub but very welcoming. The beers good and the food tasty. Service also excellent. Definitely worth a visit.

Detoured to this lovely restaurant (on the advice of Tripadvisor) during our trip from Birmingham to London and it was worth it. Staff were pleasant and welcoming upon our arrival. Parking was a bit of a hassle as the pub car park was full but managed to find parking in the lane. Despite it being a Tuesday the pub was... More

Very good selection of beers. Nice old fashioned feel about the pub. Very friendly and very good service. They listen well and are quick to respond to speial requests. Food varies from good to truly excellent, but it does vary. It does seem a bit on the expensive side and whilst I really like the place I really dont think... More

We found this on trip advisor. Had to get directions as it is a little out of the way and had to spot from the road. However, amazing rustic decor, friendly staff, and great food. A wonderful experience.
