A traditional country pub, in a idyllic surrounding. Set in the peaceful village of Chacombe, the George and Dragon is only 1 mile from junction 11 of the M40. The George and dragon is the perfect place for all occasions, whether it be for entertaining corporate lunches during the day, cosy dinners, family get togethers or a drink with your friends. The pub dates back to the 17th century and still has original beams and fire places. During an extension 20 years ago a hidden well was discovered, which has long become a big attraction of the pub, along with the unique brass bar. There is a large patio area which can seat up to 40 people during the long and thirsty summer months.

Three members of our family had Sunday lunch at the George and Dragon in February 2015. It was such a lovely experience because as well as the food being delicious, the service was great and the surroundings warm and comfortable. We were all delighted with our food - my husband being particularly impressed with the cranberry gravy.

The food was very disappointing for Sunday lunch. Vegetables tasteless and dry. Even the Brie wedges were tasteless. Service was good though.

Popped in the other lunch time .off the cuff ,with friends for a quick lunch. Not been there before. Lovely village setting. So very English. A very warm welcome. A gastro pub menu which was very reasonably priced. A really nice 'smiley' waitress who whilst being busy gave us all the attention we needed. A good visit and yes I... More

I come here for Sunday roast instead of the local chain of T*** Carvery. Better food, well priced and very good quality food and service. They even have excellent secure wifi too. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 rating for a gastro pub

Have eaten here many a time. Able to book and order meal ahead in case they are busy and we are have a time limit. The staff are always very friendly. I have tried a few meals which sound like a strange mixture however they have always been delicious and would be very happy to try again. Some of the... More

Visited today 9/2/15 for lunch, a party of four to celebrate both my wife's birthday and that of her twin sister. Sadly it didn't live up to the recommendation on their recently distributed 'flyer' . We found the bar area where were seated to be quite drafty,( we had to keep our outdoor coats on) and seating uncomfortable.Of the four... More

Thank you for your review; It is very valuable to hear customers opinions. Thanks to your feedback we have now stopped using that table for meals. We do light all three of our fires in the winter months along with full central heating but such an old building can get very draughty. The pie of the day is made daily... More

This is my third time to visit and once again we had a great meal. Excellent service, warm and lively atmosphere, great choice of wines, delicious food menu- just keeps on being amazing! We had the most amazing gluten free rye bread stuffed with fondue type cheese starter to share. I had the lamb fillet hotpot (which was better than... More

From the minute we walked in to the restaurant we were made to feel welcome. Very pleasant and extremely helpful staff. Our feet got a bit cold whilst we were eating but we moved into an adjoining room for our coffees in front of a lovely wood burner. A really good dining experience. Thank you
