A traditional country pub, in a idyllic surrounding. Set in the peaceful village of Chacombe, the George and Dragon is only 1 mile from junction 11 of the M40. The George and dragon is the perfect place for all occasions, whether it be for entertaining corporate lunches during the day, cosy dinners, family get togethers or a drink with your friends. The pub dates back to the 17th century and still has original beams and fire places. During an extension 20 years ago a hidden well was discovered, which has long become a big attraction of the pub, along with the unique brass bar. There is a large patio area which can seat up to 40 people during the long and thirsty summer months.

Lovely afternoon

Detoured to this lovely restaurant (on the advice of Tripadvisor) during our trip from Birmingham to London and it was worth it. Staff were pleasant and welcoming upon our arrival. Parking was a bit of a hassle as the pub car park was full but managed to find parking in the lane. Despite it being a... read more

Very good selection of beers. Nice old fashioned feel about the pub. Very friendly and very good service. They listen well and are quick to respond to speial requests. Food varies from good to truly excellent, but it does vary. It does seem a bit on the expensive side and whilst I really like the place I really dont think... More

We found this on trip advisor. Had to get directions as it is a little out of the way and had to spot from the road. However, amazing rustic decor, friendly staff, and great food. A wonderful experience.

We stopped here as we were traveling down the M40 and wanted something other than motorway service food, we googled a pub and this one came up so we tried it out! How happy we are that we popped into this fabulous and very friendly pub! The service was exceptional and friendly, the locals were chatty and helpful and inviting... More

We visted on Monday (4th May) on the sur of the moment. We had been once before and had made a mental note of their 2for1 burger night. Service was very good, the Burgers were fantastic and we had a very enjoyable evening. Definitely be visiting again soon.

Took a party of 16 here last night for dinner and mostly the food and service was good. The meals arrived quickly and were good quality. Unfortunately one of our party was unable to find any feta in her veggie pie and when she questioned it with the waiter he told her that the chef said the feta had melted... More

We often meet here with my family from down south because it's halfway between the two of us. We always have a warm welcome and so do the dogs! The food is always very good although they quite often run out of some items on busy Sunday's if you have a late table.

This is the third time I've been here in about six months and again it didn't disappoint, lovely food, great atmosphere, highly recommended. Good veggie choice, we arrived without booking a table and it was no problem, we'll be back!

We heard good reviews, so decided to try it out. Service was very good, and the ambient was lovely. However, food was terrible. We had lamb, veggie pie and jacket potato with chicken. Lamb was sour, maybe because too much mint from a jar rather than fresh mint was used. If it tasted better, I would prefer a bigger portion... More

The pub is lovely with oak beams and flag stone floors. The food is delicious with a really wide selection and everything is marked with allergy advice. Very well worth a visit!
