My second visit at Curral dos caprinos, and equally satisfied. The ambience is very rustic, and the staff helpful and deliver a very fast service. Upon being seated, we were served delicious olives, the famous cured ham and local cheeselets. We chose to have the mushrooms, very tasty as starters. Our main course consisted of roasted baby potatoes, spinach puree,... More

Having lunch with a 100 or so tourists was not choice but we were part of a tour - what a pleasant surprise as to the quality and quantity of food not to mention prompt service. We were in and out in the allocated time and we heard no complaints, especially not from us. Very local and very nice sums... More

The grilled slices of goat meat, 'alheiras' sausage, and 'secreto de porco preto' (black pork secret) were amazing. The refried grelos and shaved ham were subpar. Service was excellent overall.

the good thing about this restaurant is that the staff are always helpful, even to the extent of choosing your wine for you and not going for the dearest option. They have a huge range. There are always regulars and local people in here as well as travellers from Lisbon and around. The food is consistently good -I've been there... More

The meal, the service, the atmosphere - totally worth the trip (and what a trip, along unpaved roads, yikes). The goat is their specialty so we decided to order it... delicious. Wine prices are reasonable (as is the case all over Portugal), they have it on tap and you can go up and select which one you want. We couldn't... More

Lunch was a delightful experience. I enjoyed the kabob of beef, pork and shrimp. Large platters of rice, French fries, a special bread and coriander dish, broccoli and other delights. My wife enjoyed the icky breast with orange reduction. Neither enjoyed the goat but understand we should have tried it. Service was very good and the prices fair. Great place... More

Our hotel recommended this restaurant and it was wonderful. Our waiter was excellent. We too ordered too much food very large portions. But the steak was excellent and the goat was devine. We will be back to this wonderful restaurant. They gave us one of the olive bowl that has a place for the pit who does that ? Excellent... More

I wanted authentic Portuguese food and the hotel recommended this gem, what nice people who work here. They treated me like family and I loved the food.

We had ordered far too much food here, and most was delicious. It was full of locals, which is always a good sign! My daughter's pork and beef kebab was a bit tough, but the rest of us had steaks cooked in different ways, and they were very nice indeed. Even those typical dishes like a strange mushy garlicky bread... More

This is very much a typical Portuguese restaurant and is off the tourist trail. The food and wine are excellent and the cabrito (young goat) is especially good. The sweets are home made and delicious. This restaurant is highly recommended.
