Very good traditional portuguese food

After a week in Portugal I couldn't eat any more meat, so I had what the waiter translated to me as "country salad," and vegetable soup, both of which were excellent. My husband had salmon, and being from the Pacific Northwest he is usually extremely critical of salmon anywhere else, but said it... read more

The restaurant's ambience is nice, with Portugese locals and a very decent host. The wine is also quite lovely (Vila Real in this case). The food, however, was not so, with an enormous omelet as only vegetarian option and a mal-prepared steak. Judging by the neighbors' plates, the fish seemed like the better option.

You will enjoy beautiful traditional food cooked exceptionally well. We both had the house meat skewer which we frequently have when visiting Portugal but this one was right up there. the meat was so tender and the onions so sweet. Staff were lovely and catered for the tourists and loyal locals. Would love to return one day.

Typical cuisine restaurant with a good service. Nice place with family atmosphere, I recommend the choosing of the "dishes of the day" ... A note of attention to Mr. Manuel in the knowing how to welcome anyone... Go there and enjoy your meal ;-)

Lots of locals (we were the only tourists). The best dish was the "tamboril com camarões". Excellent food and service!!!

We chose two separate dishes (meat in skillet & grilled tuna) with sides. Each of the meals were pleasant to look at and extremely tasty. The portions were adequate for each diner. The service was helpful and courteous. The owner presented us with a ceramic plate off of the wall with the name of the establishment (dated 1989), as a... More

For many years, one of the best in this village as far as good homely traditional cooking goes. It's not 'chic' and doesn't pretend to be, unlike a few other establishments in the town. For that you can go to Lisbon. Invited by a passing guest, Dom Pipas was the best I could recommend, but it's closed on Mondays so... More

After a hiking visit in Sintra, this is a restaurant you must try before heading back to Lisbon! just behind the Sintra train station. Try the tapas, so delicious.

Came to Dom Pipas on our last night in Sintra. This was one of two restaurants recommended by our B&B host. It was a little difficult to find as we didn't realize that the "road" on Google map was actually a bridge. But we got there and were promptly seated. Server was super relaxed and was joking around with us... More

the restaurant was recommended by our hotel and was very easy to find nearby the train station. Very nice ambiance and service was perfect! Besides a fantastic dinner, bottle of wine and two desserts we spent less than 40€, very reasonable! Meat was cooked perfectly and served with rice and fries. For dessert, I had the rice pudding and my... More
