Feast for the eyes as well

We has all the dishes which were the specialty of the restaurant, and each was wonderful. The goat cheese with walnut and honey served in a phyllo pastry was gorgeous to see and a great mix of flavors in the mouth. The lamb chops were beautifully prepared and served--and were delicious. This is a beautiful restaurant and located in the old royal kitchen. The huge stone table in the middle is amazing and we were told that it was the former working bench and weighs 16 tons! The chimney is fascinating and very big and one can imagine all the people working in the kitchen preparing food for the royals :)... More

Restaurants in Portuguese Pousadas are usually fairly good, but this one exceeds expectations. It serves traditional Portuguese food (or some dishes that are new, but based on traditional ones) made with care and respect. And we get to visit the old kitchen of the palace, with a very large and beautiful chimney.

We had our wedding dinner here and it was excellent. The food quality, the taste, and the attentiveness of the staff was outstanding! We told the chef what kind of dishes we were looking for and he designed truly unique menu. The dessert was a buffet with many different kinds of portuguese delicacies. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone... More

The restaurant itself is in the original kitchen of the Palácio de Queluz, which makes you feel that you're in the 18th century. There was a lady playing harp during dinner, which made the atmosphere more romantic. The food was great, very tasty and the service was professional and friendly. Definitely worth the visit!

This restaurant in housed in the original kitchen at the Queluz Palace, with the original copper, chimneys, etc. It is an old-fashioned and elegant restaurant and rather pricey, but worth it for the experience. There were few other diners when we were there, The service was attentive, but they did bring us the wrong entrée which was quickly corrected. They... More

A Cozinha Velha, situated in the Palace of Queluz (former royal residence in Portugal and now a national monument), is a traditional and old restaurant which had struggled to live up to its name and fame, and has been trying to diversify its cuisine keeping the right balance between modernity and tradition. Apart from its regular menu, there are occasional... More

It's a pretty dining room and nice eating in the old palace but the food was just ok. This and the pousada have seen better days sadly.

It's a great atmosphere, as it's the old palace kitchen and on one evening a harpist was playing, but the food was a disappointment. Either too salty, or bland. The desserts are good, though.

We stayed four nights at the pousada and ate at the restaurant twice. The setting is atmospheric and well set out, making a feature of the massive original chimney. Service by the Maitre d' was excellent and he spoke excellent English. He also suggested a couple of places in Lisbon to buy Portuguese wines. Whilst there were very few people... More
