Sinal Vermelho is one more restaurant in Bairro Alto, not that I would have stopped there if our hotels Concierge would not have recommended it. This would have been a mistake. The food is original and good (try the pork Alentejo style with clams) and the wine recommendations were spot on. In fact I was surprised about the large selection... More

Found this place thanks to a Portuguese friend. The restaurant is not very expensive but the food is great - a wide variety of traditional, local dishes. It's normally pretty crowded, so better make a reservation.

The food is simply delicious and typical, classical Portuguese. Goddo selection of Portuguese wines and classical desserts famously invented by the nuns in the 18th and 19th century in their convents. A very much Portuguese tradition they always give you cheeses , ham and liver pathé as an hors d'oeuvre. Just great as this can simply be your strater (portions... More

I came to Sinal based on recommendation. The staff were really nice, pleasant, entertaining / at the same time not too engaging to interfere with the personal time and private talks we were having with the colleague. Food was very good. Appetizer was excellent, fantastic cheese selection. In case you do not wish to have it, make sure to say... More

Stumbled across this place while exploring Barrio Alto at night. Really good food and top service in a packed dining room.good choice of fish and local dishes. Yep I suppose there are better places, but hit the spot on a busy Friday night.

We went to Lisbon for a family holiday, and after a couple of visits to some overly priced restaurants (Sr Vinho), and others with awful service, and average food (Casa Da Índia, Estrela Do Minho) we really just wanted a nice, not overpriced dinner for our last night. After reading about a few places on here, we decided to walk... More

We were on our way to a restaurant recommended by the host of the apartment we are staying in when we walked past Sinal. There were just too many people in there for us to pass up. We were very glad we stopped. The food was excellent. We had a traditional Portuguese (at least that's what it said on the... More

A great little Portugese restaurant in the Chiada district. Good food for a fair price and the wine selection is good. We were hungry and two ordered the lamb stew and it was fantastic.Call ahead to see if it is on the menu for that night. The fish was great but the lamb stew was fantastic.

Just had dinner a couple of days ago. Had the "espadinha" fish wich was part of the specials (I have not made my mind if going for the specials is a good/bad idea, it has worked both ways for me). It was absolutely delicious, one of the best (non exotic) fish I have ever had. Had a couple of glasses... More
