Good value and quality Portuguese food

This restaurant works with the similarly named wine bar across the road. Both provide very tasty food. We didn't have any wine but the beer was good and properly priced. The dishes are more generously garnished than the menu would suggest. The food is traditional Portuguese and very tasty... read more

Ate here about 2 hours ago. Fish was tasty but not exceptional and served with overcooked vegetables. Nothing to rave about. Before the main course and order being taken we were presented with lots of cheese and meats which we ignored but beware they are costly - 1euro for a portion of butter. We were surrounded by others chain smoking... More

We happened into this restaurant thinking it was where Fado was being held. We were mistaken. Tables are very close together. Waiters are rushed and a bit surly. Seems like a place for tourists. Lamb chops were extremely tiny and chicken was deep fried. Not inexpensive for what you get.

If i could give 0 stars I would. The whole experience was disgusting. The food was inedible. Completely inedible. I ordered Monkfish. I know monkfish. The damp, white, pungent object on my plate next to the over boiled cabbage was not Monkfish. It also arrived after just a few minutes so I suspect a microwave was involved...by which i mean... Yes, this is in the middle of a very touristic area but we chose it as we noticed a couple of tables where local businessmen were eating. I had a very nice fish stew and we were waited on by a charming young waiter who was really helpful. The chef is a woman - that makes a change. A great... More

We head just arrived in Lisbon and were hunting for a place for lunch when we stumbled upon this restaurant. It was just ok. We found the wait staff very friendly, efficient and helpful. The ambiance of the place felt like a local place but it soon became obvious that pretty well all of the customers in our room didn't... More

This is the Bairro Alto. It is a magnet for tourists and most of the restaurants know that. But there are not so many restaurants with a decent enough Portuguese kitchen that have tables outside to watch the hustle and bustle of this fascinating corner of Lisbon. Yes, you will pay a few more euro - and will have to... More

Stay away from this restaurant. The worse one we had in Lisbon. I really don't understand how come that they have some good reviews . Not only bad food and badly cooked and presented, expensive too. My dish (a vegetarian dish) included even some items out of a can. My husband had a grilled bacalao dish with veggies (it was... More

Cosy wine bar, owner gave nice suggestions for wine to try but wasn't overly helpful. Nice tapas. Wines were about 4-6 euros for a tasting.

In the "in" areas and along the tourist tracks of Lisbon (Baixa, Alfama or Bairro Alto) you can find a huge choice of local or whatsoever restaurants. And usually, it's rather difficult to make a proper choice because most of them offer a pretty common standard of Portuguese dishes or specialities. After some longer observations and comparisons I tried the... More
