Stepping through the doors (as I have done on many occasions) at Gambrinus is like a trip into the era of Noel Coward. Good, old-fashioned service by waiting staff in uniforms, starched linen and a sense of occasion each time. The food is always good and served with a little sense of the theatrical. Well worth paying a little more... More

As you step in the restaurant you are taken back on time. Everything is perfect here from the service to the food preparations. Just order an old bottle of red wine and watch the way they will handle....the old fashioned french twisting machine...surprise. Now you know that when he was President of Portugal Salazar had lunch here everyday.

Right boys and girls, you really should know the drill by now in this type of restaurant. The waiters wear starched shirts and waistcoats. The look you get when you venture in is basically saying "You aren't worthy of this restaurant". So, let's get past that. First off, if it's just yourself or a plus one, sit at the bar... More

Very expensive and pretentious. Good service. Regular food. Shrimps dorado with batter too thick are not as tasty as the Mediterranean (this all in Portugal). Crevette too big € 28. Oysters very good and fresh € 30. Fried calamari € 32 (lulas) hard and brought lukewarm and paperless fat absorption, nothing to do with a fried calamari the Italian Adriatic... More

Great evening in this fantastic place, very special, old-fashioned atmosphere, great service, and excellent food and wine. I particularly appreciated the very helpful, courteous and attentive staff. The reservation was booked by the concierge of the nearby Hotel Sofitel. I will be back, and you should try too. Make your own opinion, it is worth to visit.

The food was exceptionally good topped with a service. Good service in Europe is rare but this place is an exception. Mr. Brito at the bar is a superb man lot of life and if you enjoy food and wine leave it to him and he will take you for a treat. I felt like I'm at home. You will... More

Everything was perfect. The staff was super friendly. It is old style elegant. Many waiters serve you and clearly they have their specialties--the waiter who tossed the salad did it to perfection as strange as that may sound. There are great wines in all ranges. Their bread is beyond good. We had seafood and steak and they were cooked to... More

Everything is great in this place. You feel like you've been taken to a different era where nothing but outstanding service is the rule. For me it's all about seating in the bar and have the best beer in town, the best croquetes and the Prego. Seating at the restaurant is good also but for me seating at the bar... More
