The standards of all their cooking is high especially the fish. Their sole was excellent this time but the fresh Atlantic Wild Sea Bass last time was memorable. Don't be tempted by having too much oven baked bread and butter - leave plenty of room for generous portions. If you have room have the classical Crepe Suzettes served professionally and... More

The service is excellent and food is also of high standards. It is a very old restaurant in Lisbon and keeps staying on top all these years. For me it is the best restaurant in Lisbon, it is not a cheap one but you get what you pay.

My girlfriend and I visited on our last night in Lisbon. Modest from the outside, classic old fashioned style and service on the inside. We sat at the bar for a beer and soaked up the charm and warmth of the service. Food looked good although we just had drinks. Its great to see a restaurant that still serves food... More

We visited Gambrinus on our last day in Lisbon, the decor is old fashioned but I love that authentic feel about it. We had not made a reservation but we were quickly shown to a table for two. I think we were the youngest people in the restaurant, there was a very mature crowd. The waiter were very attentive, in fact... More

We were a little reticent about visiting what is obviously quite an old fashioned restaurant, but it was close to our hotel and we fancied a slap up fish supper, so decided to give it a go. I'm really glad we did - the service was warm & friendly, far from stuffy, and the food was excellent - especially the... More

Our hotel recommended Gambrinus for our last night in Lisbon. After eight wonderful days with many enjoyable dining experiences, I did not expect to find such a delightful restaurant within walking distance of our hotel. We were received by the staff as if we were expected VIPs. All that needs to be said is that in every way this restaurant... More

Gambrinus is located centrally in Lisbon (at the bottom end of the tourist-trap-restaurant street Rua Portas de Santo Antao). However Gambrinus has a modest frontage onto this street with no outside tables in the street unlike most of the other restaurants. There is also another entrance to the restaurant from behind in Largo do Recedor where the taxis queue up.... More

We had been told that this was one of the best restaurants in Lisbon. The decor is nice and old fashioned. We were seated in a corner which was good for a little privacy and people-watching. Food was quite good in general, (except for one of our party who had disappointing fish), but given the reputation of the place, service... More

This is one of the few restaurants that you never get disappointed. For many years, this restaurant keeps the standards very high. You will be sure that you will eat very well, but be prepared to pay accordingly.
