It is a rare treat to find in such an 'old school' restaurant. Traditional simple food done very well, proper napery, older, well trained waiters who are very good with a relaxed way borne out of knowing their job properly. Not for everyone, but if you are in hospitality, this is a wonderful example of service that seems to be... More

This restaurant is one of the few old good restaurants in Lisbon that maintain its quality. We arrived by 11 PM and we were not looking for a proper meal. So we seated at the balcony and eaten roasted beef sandwiches that were great. The service is top class.

Very expensive - especially for Lisbon. A little bit over the top with service level and traditional restaurant environment. Food was OK, nothing special.

We visited twice on our recent visit, this is an institution , fantastic food , excellent service and attention to detail. The staff are professional and it is obvious that they take what they do seriously but know how to enjoy their work and interact with the customer to the extent that the customer relaxes, sits back and enjoys their... Gambrinus is not a fancy gourmet restaurant with 10 mini courses. It it excellent traditional food partly prepared by the side table and with a refil if you didn't get enough. We started with drinks ( the biggest and best I ever had), had sole Bretagne and pork chops (was actually pork roast) and finished with chocolate sin (perfect choise... More

Gambrinus has always been there and always a reference when we talk about the excellency of the Portuguese cuisine. Traditional, sophisticated and impeccable service. What else can we say? Superb food, of course, with the signature of Chef Carlos Oliveira. And also an outstanding wine menu. Beautiful décor, a romantic fireplace and a busy bar, where you can also dine.... More

Old school, and incredible. Stopped by as a splurge for lunch. Sat at the bar. Linen put down for me. Bar tenders in ties and vests. I had the special - partridge pie and, of course, some vinho verde. Then coffee prepared at the bar - I won't spoil it for you, but it's quite an experience. Worth the money... More

Rustic atmosphere, but great food and wine! Make sure to try the sole fillets and the fish starters! This is one of the places one must not miss when traveling to Lisbon.

We stumbled over Gambrinus more or less by chance on a Saturday evening while looking for a different place we wanted to have dinner in. Personally, I very much love traditional fine-dining places (like let's say 30 years ago, in the 80s) and in this sense Gambrinus was spot-on. The room is beautifully paneled in dark wood (which probably makes... More

Tricky review this one as the food was actually very good but we didn't come away having enjoyed the evening particularly. Why? Because this restaurant seems to revel in the fact that it's traditional to the point that it's almost a parody of itself. The image of the head waiter proudly cooking flaming Crepes Suzette next to a table of... More
