65th Birthday dinner.

The restaurant was very old Lisbon, charming and decadent. The food was very nicely presented but bland and very overpriced. The cover charge for bread etc., was 15 euros each. None of our fellow diners were local - that in itself speaks volumes. The staff did bring out a small cake / dessert for... read more

If you dont mind paying its probably worth a visit for the surroundings and decor. Food is not brilliant but well presented. Staff not as friendly as in other places in Lisbon.

I reserved table trough internet for Christmas eve two weeks before and there was two warning sights already then: restaurants pages were only in portuguese and they asked me to pay half of the fixed-menu price in advance (334/2= 167 euros for two person), but their email didn't work! So when arriving to Lisbon we asked in hotel concierge to... More

I just had christmas dinner wiith my family at Tavares. We were taught, this is one of the best restaurantes in Lisbon. I have to tell you thet it was a terrible disappointment.. Service was terrible slow in the kithen, a lot of time between the dishes and we are talking about a fix menu. The octupus was stichy and... More

I really enjoyed everything, from great staff, delicious food, and beautiful decor! The day I went the place was almost full, and even like that the service was great. I have no complains at all, and I would definitely go back, on my next trip to the beautiful Lisbon!

all the reviews praising the décor are more or less correct..but its not all that great. There are grander places. We went on a Friday and the place was empty save for a couple of tables. There was 1 waiter and 1 captain serving the entire place. The food was bad..it wasn't "ok".. it wasn't "passable" it was plain bad.... More

My husband have gone to this restaurant with a group of colleagues years ago and we decided to check how it was. It was not a bad experience, but their food was nicely presented but just ok. The environment seems to be living from a more glorious past that makes the staff to have their noses a bit up. The... More

The place is stunningly beautiful. The staff was great and the wine phenomenal. That being said, it was telling that the place was empty at 10:00pm on a Friday. We had the chef's tasting menu with wine pairings. Apparently, they don't usually offer the tasting menu that late, but the chef made an exception. That was kind and we appreciated... More

The interior picks up the Baroque architecture that would have been around at the time that this restaurant was built (its the second oldest restaurant in Western Europe). It is spectacular topped only by the impeccable service. The staff seemed to sense when you were ready to make a move - be it to order or anything else - and... More
