Good food. Traditional Portugese with a modern twist. Service was ok untill the bill arrived and they charged us for a bottle of water we didn't have. No goodbye nor other recognition on leaving although we left a tip. Also we only got one slice of bread where usually in these kind of places you get a constant supply so... More

Tavares is located in the trendy Bairro Alto/ Chiado district in Lisbon, about 5 minutes walk from the Bairro Alto Hotel. It is quite an old restaurant but as far as I understand it changed owners or cooks recently which means that there are only very few reviews here. The restaurant just recently reopened after having been closed for about... More

I don't know why there are so few reviews. We had the most spectacular meal in a setting that feels like being back in Mozart's time. The help seemed a bit stiff at first, but once we began to laud the food, they brightened up and even the young chef came out to greet us. The fish is truly local,... More

Went there tonight with my wife for her birthday. We both had the tasting menu and it was incredible. They are focussing on bringing modern twists to traditional Portuguese fare ans whilst some dishes came across as slightly confused, the overall experience was fantastic. Would recommend this restaurant as a great dining experience.

We were there with the kid,but it's definitely not the family kind of restaurant. What I liked best is the design and atmosphere-black and gold and a lot of mirrors, looks so good. The food is a piece of art-will fill all your senses but not the stomach Try the octopus and the kid /like baby goat/

Famous restaurant and one of the oldest ones in Lisbon & Portugal. Staff is nice and sometimes too friendly. Food was good but does not match the price we paid! But of course it is a must go.

I had received several suggestions from friends to visit Tavares in Lisbon and I went with my wife and children for a dinner. The restaurant was literally exclusive to us, since for almost entire dinner no other table was occupied, which created some concerns if our decision was right, but..... it was. The service was superb, the attention with the... More

We made reservations at this restaurant 3 months in advance for a Saturday night for a special visit to Lisbon from the UK. On arrival we found a note in the window saying it was temporarily closed. Despite having my contact details they made no effort to inform me of their closure. Disgraceful way to treat customers. Shame on you... More
