An excellent restaurant in a historical building

This restaurant, based in an ancient monastery, in one of the most typical areas of Lisbon, combines good service, excellent food and a great atmosphere. The small hors d'oeuvres that are initially served are delicious and really prepare your taste for the delicious food that follows.

Just my sort of restaurant. Small but exquisite menu, excellent wines, attentative and knowledgeable service and all this in the special setting of an old convent, as good as it gets. We sat on the terrace as it was such a pleasant temperature last night, but I also had a look at the indoors dining area which looked equally attractive.... More

You will never stumble across this restaurant unless it's recommended and don't be too alarmed when the cab drops you off in a little site street. We visited this restaurant for our 4th wedding anniversary and booked in advance online, starters you are treated to traditional Portuguese tapas style all beautiful. Main we had Venison which was absolutely stunning along... More

While touring the city, we were warned by our guides that many restaurants in Lisbon add items to your bill that you did not order. We had to ask directions for A Travessa and the person who directed us warned us that A Travessa has a reputation for this practice. When the waiter came around with a round of appetizers... More

When you first arrive at A Travessa you will wonder if you should walk down the small road to the front door. You will be glad you did. The hostess escorted us to our table in an outdoor courtyard that was picture perfect. The host/owner ran through the menu fielding any questions we had. Once we decided on our mains... More

Tradinial old fashioned restaurant with so so food and pretentious image. Plenty of nice inexperienced waiters, but lovely setting. Only 2 types of wine ,served by glass ,below acceptional standard. Food certainly not worth the price. With so many great restaurants in Lisbon, avoid this.

Enjoyed the evening in a great setting-a former convent-when you walk in it really feels special The set starters of 8 of the chefs creations were very good even though it probably could have been explained better For mains,we had the monkfish for 2 served in a creamy shrimp sauce which was fine The service was good and attentive There... Bland, overpriced food trying to hide behind over-the-top service. Dinner starts with a set of appetizers chosen by the chef. Sounds great, except the only way to summarize it is to mention that one of the dishes "specially chosen by the chef" are blend scrambled eggs. How does a chef that charges this much for a meal looks at himself/herself... More

I rate this restaurant as 'terrib'e, not for its food but for its straetgy to rip off the customers. the ambiance and location is very lovely, and the food is of high quality, but for a so called /pretended high rpemium restaurant that advertises in 5-start hotel as the palce where one 'must be' - its a shame and a... We tried Travessa one evening in June the food was of a very high quality. everything was perfect... But we did not like sommelier It was a young self assured man, who did not know anything about wines.. very unprofessional.... And more of that he did not know anything about people)) We asked for a light, elegant and fresh taste... More
