Yes, this is a must on any trip to Lisbon but the great pastries and offerings are sadly let down by slow, unorganized service and employees with attitude. The coffees are definitely not the best and you if you don't ask for the quiche or cheese pastry to be warmed it comes cold to the table. I saw the staff... More

We had a great light lunch followed by delicious pastry desserts. Our waiter was very attentive and polite; his English wasn't great but his good service more than made up for it. Had we known, we'd have waited until about 12:30p and had lunch upstairs where they offer a buffet. The local woman sitting next to us was in the... More

I had to pay a visit to the oldest patisserie of the city during my Portugues trip and I have been positively impressed. A bit confusing the process of ordering/take a table, probably to be reviewed but it was definitely compensated by the pastries and by the nice old fashioned atmosphere. A bit disappointing the latte they did, however my... More

Following our enjoyable experience, I would recommend visiting this place for a breakfast coffee and pastry.

Custard tarts are a way of life in Lisbon and in the interests of research we ate quite a few! The ones we ate here were delicious. So are the ones at Belem. I may need to return to Lisbon to check again which ones I like better! You won't be disappointed if you eat your custard tarts here!

We dubbed this as 'not Betty's' referencing the famous Betty's in Harrogate UK. It had the same feel of a place that's been around for a long time doing good things well. Our first visit was for coffee, the second for coffee and cake, the third for lunch upstairs in the table service area, there is a self-service option. We... More

This is definitely a nice place to visit. It has survived the years always as one of the top pastry places of the city. Its brand awareness is very strong. Still this same history deserves a little bit more respect by the people who work there. The service quality was quite low and public affluence cannot be an excuse. Slow... More

The setting interior was not great as we would have expected in a very old establishment. The coffee was lower quality than any other places we visited. Pastries were dried, not so good. Only the Pastel de Nate were a must.

We came here several times while in Lisbon (our first visit was as part of a food tour). The Pastel de Nata (Portuguese custard tarts) here were very good, but, as others note, not as good as Pasteis de Belem. Here, they have a somewhat undercooked crust, particularly on the bottom. The gummy chewiness of the bottom crust makes it... More
