A bit of a battle but worth the fight.

We were visiting Lisbon recently and got a tip from a local to hit up this small eatery if we wanted good food at great value. Who doesn't? We went for dinner and were surprised to see the line-up out the door at this unpretentious neighbourhood restaurant. We decided we were going to wait and find... read more

a few years ago i was in lisbon and someone brought me here to eat, but it was crowded, full of sweaty portuguese who seemed to be having great fun wolfing down those sausages & huge steaks and washing them away with wine or beer. seeing all those locals swarming up the place i knew it was going to be... Arriving late at night because of delayed flights I wanted a place to grab a bite and see some of the city before going to sleep. Casa da India was the perfect choice. Maybe not for the food, the shrimps I ordered was overcooked and a bit bland. But I loved the atmosphere! Busy, noisy, local and fun. A melting... More

I frequently use TripAdvidsor recommendations, as I did for cheap eats in Lisbon and I could not be more wrong. The look to the restaurant was promising - old design and fresh food, but meal itself was total disaster! We have all ordered all kind of fishes and non of them had any taste. My codfish has no taste of... More

Best seafood in town! I went there haven't seen reviews on Tripadvisor and only only went inside as it was the most busy restaurant on a street and filled with locals! I love these kind of places, completely authentic and... cheap! I paid for my dinner around 10 EUR and I left half of the plate as the portions were... More

The clues for a good Portuguese restaurant are; It's chaotic; the staff ignore you when you come in. and it is full of locals. So full marks for the Casa da india. I don't expect Indian food this is a traditional Portuguese, food served simply, generous portions, no veg. Not a top of starters, just variations of vegetable soup. A... More

The locals were queuing to get in this place at lunchtime, so we joined the queue and were eventually seated at a table with a half dozen or so locals. It was loud from the locals all talking at once, and the air was thick with the cooking smells from the charcoal grill. The food was great, the sea-bass was... More

We went there quite late and got a seat at the bar. You immediately got the impression that it's a local restaurant (we were the only non-Portuguese there), a bit chaotic but very charming. Unfortunately we ordered after 11pm so we only got chicken (from the grill) but it was delicious. The food tastes great and the prices are quite... More

We decided to try this place during our trip to Lisbon, after reading great reviews about this place. It was really crowded and we had to wait for some time before we got seated. Once we started eating we realized the wait was totally worth it. We ordered soup of the day, prawns, sausages and green wine. The prawns were... More
