Great decoration, ambiance and surroundings, without having to pay too much

I've been in this restaurant quite a few times, mainly in business but also once with my girlfriend. The ambiance is great, the decoration gives you the feeling of being surrounding by science and you can enjoy a great view over the Tagus/Tejo river. I would characterize the menu mainly as a... read more

The restaurant is gorgeous! Inside the decoration is fantastic, outside the views are marvellous. The reception staff is so nice. The food...not following the set or scenery. Tuna Tataki, not bad, Tranche de garoupa, not good (blend with no flavour). However, the staters of bread, olives, and tuna paste was very good. When feedback about the food was given we... More

Exquisite signature cuisine. Very nice space with a great location. A beautiful scenery with Tagus River on the doorstep. Ample room with terrace but despite being a large space reservation required.

I am visiting Portugal from the the USA and the other day it was Sunday the 22nd of March. I casually walked in to what seemed to be a normal restaurant. I was blown away by the food and the scenery but what really made my experience incredible was a server named Io. She was incredibly attentive and shared a... More

It was not the first time we went to Darwin's Cafe. As usual, we had a fine meal and, if we didn't see the river (it was a dark and rainy night), we had the time to, once more, appreciate the decoration, inspired by Darwin's voyage, and the quality of the service (very nice, present without being intrusive, waiters, willing... I would characterize the menu mainly as a Portuguese/Italian fusion menu with a French twist. The... More

We asked for a table outside and without reservation "all tables were booked". A lady which arrived after we did also said she did not have a reservation but really really wanted to stay outside. The maitre d got her a table outside right in front of our nose just because she was a former tv presenter!!! As for the... More

We went for lunch with friends. The restaurant is located in a large modern building that houses the Champalimaud Foundation, near the Belem Tower, directly on the Tagus river. The room is beautiful with high cathedral ceilings and floor to ceiling windows, overlooking the terrace. There is outside seating on a deck as well with great views. I was more... More

Our friend recommended this place and it was fantastic! It’s a bit hidden behind the Belem Tower and we wouldn’t have found it otherwise but we are very happy we did. They have an amazing terrace with sunbeds and views over the river and the drinks didn’t feel overpriced. The inside also had very original décor giving it an upscale... More

The food is really good, Portuguese modern. The view and décor make the experience great. Nice décor of a big dinner room, with clear references to Darwin. The view to the river is amazing, especially at lunch time. Located in a modern building dedicated to bio-medical research. Excellent service.

It was not the first visit to this restaurant, but it improves as we get back. The atmosphere and service are very good and the food also very nice. It is always an option for a bit more formal occasion.
